jalebi_bhai
We became no 1 because of srt' date=' dravid & vvs. [b']The same oldies let us down in 0-8. So how does is become only dhoni's fault ? You hypocrites dont give MS any credit for becoming no1 becoz of he having a great team but when the same seniors were pathetic in england & australia its all dhoni's fault eh? As far as recent overseas tour is concerned i would like to ask you how many years did it take for srt, ganguly, dravid & vvs to start winning abroad & how many of our present team have played for that long? Only dhoni & ishant have played 50+ tests. Its a learning curve for all of them & nobody in the current team is a child prodigy like tendu. What....actually....who was the common denominator in those humiliations and the recent one in England? Dhoni maybe very popular in Pakistan......with Musharraf winking at him and all.......but not every Indian thinks the world of him....... Link to comment
maniac
Well a Win is a Win I will take it Might be against a traditionally piss poor English side AGain overseas series win is an overseas series win Might have come in the wake of an embarrassing and humiliating drubbing in tests The win was on foregin pitches so Yay The pitches might have been Pattas and slower S.C type of wickets which in no way is going to reflect the way they are going to be in the worldcup in Aus We won despite not getting the combo right so Super Yay I mean we will play 2 spinners, tundlers etc in 2015 but who cares we won this. So no crying Let us celebrate Link to comment
Vilander
i think its more a media thing, common people still feel Dhoni should go in Tests i suppose Link to comment
Sooda
I've watched enough games from '93 onwards to know what you're talking about - Durban 96, WI 97, Melbourne 99 watched 'em all. I'm not saying Test cricket is a format which shouldn't be played or meaningless - the usual trolls are making that argument. I follow almost ALL test cricket (not just India). I think we were touch below average - we only won two away (non-SC) series in an entire decade littered with an odd Test match win here/there (Headingley 2002, Adelaide 2003, Wanders 2006, Perth 2008 - Dravid being the common denominator in 3 out of those 4 wins). Even with those great players that we had, we weren't good or great by international standards. If you ask me, the team in the 2000s massively underachieved their potential. Absolutely, if Zaheer had attained his 'at the peak of his powers' post 2006 ish phase earlier and sustained it for longer we would have been bad ass. They dont say bowlers win matches for nothing, for all its batting might that team had to rely on some poor pacemen and spinners who could not really win matches overseas Link to comment
undisputed chap
And those oldies are gone now. Dhoni is still there Err, individuals don't win, team wins. And some of the architect of those wins were very young players . SRT,Ganguly, Dravid were always scoring runs. We started winning because of captaincy and backing bowlers, something which Dhoni doesn't do Do you guys even grasp the concept of specialist batsman vs wk/bat Oldies were sent home becoz they were done for. Did you even see the their performances ? SRT averaged just 31 ib the last two years for a specialist batsman this is pathetic. Dravid could hardly put bat to ball. Dhoni averaged 20 with the bat in aus which is comparable to other wk/bat. This is his worst in overses tours. Compare it to virat who is a specialist batsman in england 13.4. Even on his worst tour his average is comparable to other wk/bat . At home he averages 50 odd which is exceptional. When we consider wk/bat in recent times only matt prior averages more i.e 40 odd. Dhoni averages 38.xx. He is among the best there as well. In recent test series he scored the second highest runs & 4 50's. If he had support he would have converted to atleast one big score. If you consider indian wk he is peerless. Besides he has a w/l % of 46.xx vs ganguly's 42.xx % in tests. Even in SA & NZ we were in winning positions but we fecked it up becoz of virat & co dropping dollies. I mean how did these feckers get selected for the national team when they cant even take dollies. Again i ask you if your batsmen cant even last for 2 sessions how do you expect them to win. We could have bundled out for less then 100 in every innings in last 2 tests. How do you expect anyone to win from there. Link to comment

maniac
No its always dhoni's fault whether we win or lose. Let me ask you a question,DO you even watch the matches or are you just assuming things and making an argument just for the sake of it. For the nth time Let us start with the on-field captaincy- Not being proactive,Shifting momentum,Letting game drift, being casual on and of field etc. Now These are not just stuff people make up-Examples of these have been well documented not only on ICF but every cricketing outlet not controlled by BCCI,Be it the passionate fan, online forums or any other indepenent entity that covers cricket. rkt.india
So apparently under dhobi we should be improving. But we are getting worse! This last tour was worst ever. Sack his **** 8-0 were worst than this. We lost badly even with great maharathies. Here, at least, we won a test. Link to comment
