nevada Posted December 15, 2014 Posted December 15, 2014 I don't think our bowlers are capable of executing any type of plan. They are highly capable of executing one plan - leak runs, and pleadingly look at the opposition captain after 500.

He will whack ordinary spinners but if you have someone with a bit of guile and mystery it could trouble him.

On these tracks just make him drive or feel for ball without going forward ...only bhuvi could have done that consistently and ishant has potential if he bowls over the wicket but our plan is messed up and no one is as consistent :(( Need to rely on some magic deliveries now to just swing back and hit stumps ...umesh did well against him last time so he might play and do well but honestly looks bad :cantstop:

The one thing they must stop is giving a freebee boundary ball every over. Make him take risks for his runs.

So maybe they will get one more match but sooner had av plays imo the better for us

The way he swings the ball both ways, i don't think warner would be comfortable against him. since bhuvi is injured, i feel umesh is the right bowler against warner as he swings the ball at high pace, plus his natural length is full. warner relies on hand and eye coordination, and not much on feet movement just like sehwag. so that can cause his downfall.

Cricketics Posted December 15, 2014 Posted December 15, 2014 Warner likes to play short balls a lot. I would tell our bowlers to come around the wicket and bowl Short stuff angling in to him and put a fielder all the way back at deep mid wicket. He will surely fall to the trap.

This is right. Warner needs room to free his hands, so bowlers who take the ball away from him (i.e. Ishant) bowling across him won't work. Chris Martin, for example, was cannon fodder. They need to swing the ball into him from over the wicket, and pitch it nice and full.

Keep 3 slips and a gully (minimum) behind point waiting for the edge. Put some protection at deep point to encourage the bowlers to continue with the angle across him. Just persist with that for the first 10-15 overs with that new ball and frustrate the hell out of him. I think if Warner had to leave 60-70% of his deliveries and not be able to put away a boundary, it could frustrate him into playing a stupid shot.

He will keep playing through cover and point area and if you have fielders there, you concede less boundaries and will also have chance of edges going to slips.
