why is Raina in the test squad

If the team management does not have confidence in Raina 's batting,why is he selected for the series.In 3rd test,Raina should have played at no 6 instead of Rahul who is a opener

Thats a very good point. Apparently he has worked on his technical issues. If that's the case then he was the logical choice at No.6. Perhaps the team management wanted to give Rahul a chance but didnt want him facing the new ball.

Raina is mainly in the squad to acclimatize in As conditions and climate before world cup Rahul has far superior domestic record so it shouldn't even be an argument why he is playing ahead of Raina

Its a confused squad selection, seemingly for both ODIs and Tests which is silly. Raina can be batting for UP now so he is in some nick when the ODIs come around instead of sitting doing nothing. Lokesh should have played at least one of the warm up matches so that he had some batting practice- I think Raina played in both? Do not get that. Should have been 16 men for tests and then ODI replacements coming over later.

As for nick , he has the CB series warm up matches to get his nick back if he is rusty .But getting exposure in the bouncy wkts even if they are practice pitches are valuable experience
