A 110+ , a 60+ and a 30+ out of 4 innings. Out of 4 SA innings he had 119, 96 and 46. So, apart from England...Virat has been amazingly consistent in all other countries in the last 15 months.

He also played in WI and his away tour of Oz was the previous one (where his stats were okay, but not great). I'm not downplaying him, but you did say "first try".

I'm just worried about the success, etc going to his head or bowlers working him out. Look at Cook - for a couple of years, he was formidable, and now he's back to normal again.

Look at Cook - for a couple of years, he was formidable, and now he's back to normal again.[/quote'] kohli batted at number 6 in last australia tour and got better and better as tour went on and his inning at perth to me was brilliant and then 100 came in last test u dont expect him to score much in those situations but for me it was pretty good first away tour of australia where he grew as batsman. still tell me did all fab 4 had brilliant first away tours ? now imagine them touring 4 away tours back to back with no experienced batsman in team ..

Hence, I don't believe that a comparison is that straightforward.[/quote'] then judge them by standards of that generation lets call anything near 40 average success or even good innings (even if it is not 100 ) my money would be most of them would have struggled in first tours specially in australia or south africa and i can argue england is more difficult now(better team ) and south africa is same .. australia is obviously easier.

Gambit Posted January 8, 2015 Posted January 8, 2015 ^^ Not really. Cork and Mullally played that series and Cork had had excellent series' leading up to this series. Lewis and Martin played good supporting roles in conditions favourable to them.
