beetle Posted January 3, 2015 Posted January 3, 2015 Mitchell Johnson is nursing a sore hamstring and an Australian media report has quoted a team spokesperson as saying that the bowler has been excused from the training session. Sydney: Australia fast bowler Mitchell Johnson is in doubt for the fourth test against India at the Sydney Cricket Ground because of soreness in his left hamstring. Johnson did not train with the Australian team on Saturday and his condition will be further assessed in the lead-up to the final test beginning on Tuesday. Australia has clinched the series with wins at Adelaide and Brisbane and a draw last week in Melbourne. Johnson's heavy workload over the past two tests is believed to have contributed to the problem, and with the World Cup scheduled for next month, team selectors may decide to give him a rest. kubrickian Posted January 3, 2015 Posted January 3, 2015 He hasnt been that good in this series anyway. Kohli and Rahane took him to the cleaners with ease at MCG. I think they are looking to rest him for Sydney and dont want to make it look like they are dropping him. :dontknow:
fineleg Posted January 3, 2015 Posted January 3, 2015 Ryan Harris is more threatening to batsmen (in terms of taking their wickets). Rhino leads the Aus attack and MJ hasnt been too lethal.

It was sheer lack of spine in the Indian Batting Line to last 2 innings is what lost us 2 matches. Of course I don't even want to get started about the bowling. Look no where, just look at the Indian Team for reasons of this debacle !
Old guy Posted January 3, 2015 Posted January 3, 2015 I know ..but bowling track gives us the best chance with bowlers like Yadav it can work ...on flat track they are not consistent enough to choke batsmen and there is also another matter of us only playing 4 bowlers ..
G_B_ Posted January 3, 2015 Posted January 3, 2015 I got so say pitches not to his liking and moans like a ***** about it. The pitches have been on the flatter side. Granted. But Johnson basically expected to target the Indian batsman heads and they would simply roll over. The truth is that Johnson had a really good purple patch. He is now approaching his mid 30s. Something has got to give.

The aussies will basically be where India were probably 1 year ago. I dont expect Haddin or Rogers to last much longer either. Watson might be axed too.
