Number Posted January 11, 2015 Author Posted January 11, 2015 Both Dhawan and Rohit average 45 as openers and they are unreliable? Most countries would bite off to have openers like them. I am keeping in mind that they were in superb form against Aus in ODI series at home chasing 350s on their own, then they went to South Africa and New Zealand and how they played there in ODIs.
Mariyam Posted January 11, 2015 Posted January 11, 2015 Ok, its been a while since I've watched a cricket game. But why is Rohit unreliable? Isn't he a good ODI bat? Didn't he hit a 270 or something recently? Compared to the other sides, our batting still looks strong.

That was at home and this will be in Australia and New Zealand and malt of our batsmen other than kohli and dhoni do not do well away from home . we will see where they stand in tri series but I do not have high hopes and Rahane might end up opening like he did before rohit score that double

Yes I know ..but he did that before too in England I want to see how they do in tri series Why can't rohit play after kohli and let Rahane open ? This can work no ?

No ..his weakness will be exposed and his main strength scoring quickly and under pressure will be undermined .. He is better of fracking less in situations where he just has to attack under pressure .

And Kohli wanting to come in at 3 at well No point in Raina playing at 3. Raina will play at 5.

Most of those were on flat Indian picthes(actually ridiculous ly flat) and small grounds,only CT performance were something to write about.they were poor in saf,nzl and we know where the world cup will be played, the ground are big as well. I think dhawan will do well considering most pitches will be flat,I have massive doubts on nohit

bharat297 Posted January 12, 2015 Posted January 12, 2015 I think one factor that needs to be taken in to consideration is that this is a long tournament (hopefully) and we really won't have 1 best side that we will stick with. We will have matches against a lot of teams that will also struggle to adapt to these conditions. I think initially Rohit and Dhawan should open as they have opened for a while before and have a good left-right combination (an underrated thing in limited overs cricket ) with Rahane at 4 and if things aren't working out we can reassess. I'm more worried about the bowling. We have enough options batting wise.

He has quite a good game against bouncy stuffs but it turned out that it's not that when he's playing outside SC. He's such a hack. I expected him to do well in SA too.. AUS tour is halfway now, and I don't see him doing anything better.

Dravid and Ganguly were top scorers despite not playing in SFs and Finals, Sachin was good too. Although lower-middle order was not consistent at all.

I didn't follow Eng ODIs much and was wondering why so many people want Rahane to open instead of Rohit. Kind of makes sense now.
