vishalvirsingh Posted January 20, 2015 Posted January 20, 2015 Dhawan should be tried lower down the order .. I mean at no 5 when the bowlers are not using the new ball. I am confident that he will come good. I believe Dhawan is better than raydu.

But with all the money in the IPL iNida have no big hitters????

But with all the money in the IPL iNida have no big hitters???? with no uthappa or Jadhav...I am not interested in a 23 in 53 balls innings from Raydu.. its better to try out dhawan at 5 behind raina and ahead of Dhoni. raydu always plays as if he owns the pitch and does not want to get out and also does not try for big hits also.... his strengths are to take singles and if we have to play raydu- why not Murli Vijay???

Bloody shame on cricket india for not trialling and experimenting with the team and getting the best combination of players ready for the WC. We will be entering the tournament low on confidence having been knocked out of the tri series. SHame India. shame.
rajmarie Posted January 20, 2015 Posted January 20, 2015 I think Indian selection was not based on form or merit but on past performance ie the team more or less got selected a year ago. Dhawan is a walking wicket. And it's going to hurt India in WC big time.
fineleg Posted January 20, 2015 Posted January 20, 2015 But with all the money in the IPL iNida have no big hitters???? With all that, what we enable - is lazy domestic cricketers, who like to play IPL, pocket the millions and then go dance, party, eat and world tour
Number Posted January 20, 2015 Posted January 20, 2015 I agree with VishalVirSingh. Ritik and Rahane to open. Get Dhawan at no. 4.
gaurav92 Posted January 20, 2015 Posted January 20, 2015 Uthappa should be drafted in immediately....
veer Posted January 20, 2015 Posted January 20, 2015 I think Indian selection was not based on form or merit but on past performance ie the team more or less got selected a year ago. Dhawan is a walking wicket. And it's going to hurt India in WC big time. Yup, they selected team a year ago... and they dont want to drop any of those players now cuz they have 'invested' in them so much. But what amazes me is that why couldnt they figure out that performing in India is different than performing in SA/NZ/ENG/AUS... Dhawan is a walking wicket in opening slot.. the only option is for him to come after Kohli..
Lord Posted January 20, 2015 Posted January 20, 2015 Dhawan should be tried lower down the order .. I mean at no 5 when the bowlers are not using the new ball. I am confident that he will come good. I believe Dhawan is better than raydu. I suggested this last match.Dhawan should be at 4 to do a Yuvi kinda job.Would be better than Rayudu. Plus Rahane seems better opening
veer Posted January 20, 2015 Posted January 20, 2015 Kohli should be at 4 ideally, one who can anchor the innings.. Dhawan at 4 and Raina at 5 will not work in most games.
coffee_rules Posted January 20, 2015 Posted January 20, 2015 Rahane , Rayudu, Kohli, Raina - unnecessary shots. Dhawan had to play and he has so much experience in giving catch practice, he was bound to go out. Don't know why we are messing with #3. We have become #1 ODI team because of #3. Kohli should bat nowhere else. Get Dhawan out - Play Rahane and Sharma to open. Dhoni to be #4 and #6 can be Raina.
Lord Posted January 20, 2015 Posted January 20, 2015 Kohli should be at 4 ideally' date=' one who can anchor the innings.. Dhawan at 4 and Raina at 5 will not work in most games.[/quote'] Dhawan 4,Dhoni 5,Raina 6. Kohli HAS to play at 3.
jf1gp_1 Posted January 20, 2015 Posted January 20, 2015 Replacement for Dhawan for WC Someone suggested Ohja, one has to be nuts to handover a debut at WC. Not that Dhawan can be replaced but even if he could i can't see going beyond vijay who should have been in squad to begin with. Uttapa only for Rayudu so that you r place a backup keeper with another. I just hope jaddu gets back soon:
yoda Posted January 20, 2015 Posted January 20, 2015 Should have taken Uthappa/Vijay in the 15, now we are stuck.
veer Posted January 20, 2015 Posted January 20, 2015 Dhawan 4,Dhoni 5,Raina 6. Kohli HAS to play at 3. Actually i agree with you but we are losing first wicket in first 2-3 overs regularly.. and Kohli essentially gets exposed to new shiny ball right away. But i think given our resources we dont have a choice but to go with the order that you suggested.
veer Posted January 20, 2015 Posted January 20, 2015 Should have taken Uthappa/Vijay in the 15' date=' now we are stuck.[/quote'] True.. but squad of just 15 is sort of unfair for WC that lasts for 10 games.. and one and half month. They should allow 17 instead.
goose Posted January 20, 2015 Posted January 20, 2015 The batsman must come from the XI that played the tests i.e. Dhawan has a role but lower down. He has neither the skill or temperament to open on these wickets. Conditions seem to favour batsman that know how to reign it in to begin with, remain not out, then accelerate later - for once Rohit is an ideal choice. As for the bowlers, i wouldn't mind a bunch of debutantes as long as they are fresh, tall and accurate e.g. Pankaj Singh. Kumar and Shami are spent.
