BeautifulGame Posted January 25, 2015 Posted January 25, 2015 It seems is our team doesn't trust Kohli against moving ball The only issue is whether Kohli is comfortable batting at 4 .Unlike Sachin and batting down the order If Kohli feels uncomfortable facing the new ball then can't force him at 3.

fineleg Posted January 25, 2015 Posted January 25, 2015 I do not know why people keep calling this world cup like 2007 campaign. It's actually like 2003. Playing shyt right before world cup and eventually getting better. I hope we reach final like that and actually go on to clinch the final. What are the "lets look at some of the positives" threads that Ticz is gonna create after India crash out early (latest by QF) of WC2015? or is he gonna hit some bars in East Coast to chill out after the team crashes out? :)
Pagalpanti Posted January 25, 2015 Posted January 25, 2015 I don't know why so much fuss over his batting position now? He was juggling in WI and SL series as well wasn't he? He was scoring runs which kept people silent. All of a sudden, 2 poor games after scoring 700 runs in test series and doubts over his form and position
wanted_desi Posted January 25, 2015 Posted January 25, 2015 Really Saving your best batters at #4, 5 and 6. Why not just let Kohli bat at #11 position, this captain is worst.
veer Posted January 26, 2015 Posted January 26, 2015 We are depending on Virat way too much. This is worst than 'SRT-dependent' days..
jusarrived Posted January 26, 2015 Posted January 26, 2015 This is eaxactly I keep repeating , the lower and middle order wins matches for your team & its relatively weak in this team . They are banking on 4-5-6 to bail us out mots of the matches , especially in the KO . I honestly think thats the only way we are going anywhere close to winning this WC . Virat at no3 is great , but as a team we probabaly need him more down the order ...my respect for him has gone up a few notches , Can see that hes taking up a tougher role for a the teams sake .
jusarrived Posted January 26, 2015 Posted January 26, 2015 Kohli at number 3 or we are done VIrat and No3 hasnt got us results outside India .

Virat at no.3 is as good as Virat at no.4, no.5 no.6 he can kinda cover all the positions by batting long. Virat at no.4 means we are already 2 down with less overs for Virat to settle down with more pressure on increasing the run rate from the get go. His job is to bat at the best possible position to display his full ability. Others have to be shuffled around Virat not the other way around. All the available top 3 are not good at rotating the strike or going at a decent rate without resorting to risky cowlashing. In one dayers best batsmen should come as early as possible .

PBN Posted January 26, 2015 Posted January 26, 2015 Kohli is utilized as a floater for the #3 and #4 position. In other words, Kohli is basically being protected by the management because their thinking is that the ball is going to do a bit early on and he'll eventually get a peach and get out. If a wicket falls early, he comes later but if the opening partnership goes past 10-15 overs, then he'll likely come in. India has been losing their wickets regularly and has had a difficult time playing out the full 50 overs in the series so it's not like Kohli doesn't have enough time to play. So at the moment, it doesn't seem that much of an disadvantage as there's quite a few overs to play when Kohli comes in. The only thing is whether Kohli can play better at #3 and take control of the match early on and set the tone for the rest of the players. Personally, I'd have my best players playing in the top order and setting up the match rather than losing a few cheap wickets which would build the pressure anyways. The problem is that the openers are not building any sort of platform for the rest.

Jayasuriya, Great batch, Hayden, Gilchrist, Tendulkar.. etc to give an example.. Late order cameos do help. If they frequently collapse ..Imagine Kohli walks out at 8 for 2.. and another top order wicket goes immediately and he is batting at 8 for 3 where his natural game will be stifled by situation. At no.3 there is not much pressure with just 1 wicket down. Atleast he can protect his own wicket and also take care of rotating the strike. We should stop worrying about Kohli getting out when he bats at 3. You need to worry about your middle order only when top order collapse like pack of cards every time which will continue to happen if Kohli doesn't bat at no.3. Raina coming in at 20th over or so means he will get out before 3rd power play.. Then Dhoni and the tail. They will muck around and make 50 in the last 10 overs.

Where would you play the Rahanes and Rayudus ? @4 ?

Mumbai and Hyderabad respectively :cantstop: This is why i hate the squad. Just to accommodate couple unfit for ODI players we are tampering with possibly one of the all time great ODI batsman's position. You could easily say India depends completely on Kohli given the conditions. If Dhoni doesn't show up in world cup like last time until final then it will be ROhit/Raina/Kohli have to do the job. Raina reliable crunch player when you need about 30 or 40 quick runs. But to carry the entire innings in the event of collapse he is just not used to it. Rohit sharma.. i am going to sit on the fence for this guy. Never displayed any kind of reliability all his career. India just has to start punching from the beginning.. not start punching after getting beaten to the pulp. With our bowling no target is safe.
vvvslaxman Posted January 26, 2015 Posted January 26, 2015 If you look back , in 2011 world cup, Kohli was one player India depended the least in the top 5. In contrast he is the most depended this time around. We lost 4 gun players. Tendulkar, Sehwag, Gambhir, Yuvraj. India had enough notice about worrying about replacements. They did jack about it. Now we are feeling the pinch.

I am ok if they start punching from quarter final and on.. I think our WC campaign can go either way.. Once batting starts clicking, its matter of time bowlers start clicking too.

Exactly my issue with the squad & add Dhawans form its not looking very good atm . Iam not a big fan of Rohit , but its imperative that he has a good WC . He has to play a few big innings & help us set targets when we bat first . I wont be surprised if he disappears when it matters as well .cant stand the attitude & lack of commitment , so cant trust him ever . Then its just Virat , Raina and Dhoni . Iam not sure how 4 players are going to win us the WC . Only good thing is its just the 3 matches that matter .
