vvvslaxman
Now to think about it a bit more, this idea is straight from Greg Chappell coaching manua. "Using players optimally".. That is how Irfan kept getting promoted up the order. basically to realize the maximum potential of everyone at the same time. Yes if you have Brian Lara, Tendulkar, Ricky Ponting, kallis all play for the same team you can apply such strategies lol not when Dhawan, Rayudu, Binny play. Link to comment

beetle
Pinny's father is in Australia...this may come true. Shame on the selector being there when his son is a part of the team.Hope he took some cookies from mommy for sonny boy! Link to comment
HippoSucks
Binny will never be an opener. Rohit should open with Rahane or Dhawan. Link to comment
vvvslaxman
Binny will never be an opener. Rohit should open with Rahane or Dhawan. May be Ian is thinking of the wrong Binny. Roger Binny did open for India in few matches. I think he was a decent batsman for Karnataka as well. Link to comment
Shivaji bhonsle
Binny definitely have a place in the team. But, not as an opening batsman. Lol. I just hope Rayudu somehow kept away from the playing 11. Link to comment
Pagalpanti
Binny does play for RR at no.3 and did quite decently didnt he? With Rohit injured out, it wont be such a bad idea to use him as a pinch-hitter over out of form Dhawan. Once Rohit is fit though, he and Rahane will be our first choice openers Link to comment

RR top 3 usually are Rahane, Nair, Samson and Watson. Link to comment
India-KXIP fan
Had to check again to make sure Ian Chappell was the one saying this :haha: He's gone mad. Binny would not be in the top 50 batsmen from India and you want him opening Hope Binny gets tonked this game. He is too slow for International cricket. One trundler in Bhuvi is enough for LOI's. bharat297
I agree with Chappell that Kohli should bat No.3. I think Rahane should open though. Link to comment
coffee_rules
The way the catch practice guy is batting..anybody replacing him cant do worse. Link to comment
MCGGG
and then this guy criticises other's captaincy Yet you'll never hear him question an Australian captain, I like Ian but he's as biased as they come. Link to comment
veer
Where are those stroke players in our team?? We got only Kohli and then Rohit to some extent, otherwise there is none. Disappointed with Rahane as well. Days when SRT, Veeru, Gambo, Ganguly used to thread the infield and ball would shoot to boundary line in first 10-15 overs. These days we have more sloggers than stroke maker. Link to comment
