Zestian Posted January 30, 2015 Posted January 30, 2015 Rahane is a good batsman its just his attitude that is making the difference, needs to be in better frame of mind, he is doing his job but the other side (Dhawan) has been out of form whose job is to give a quick start and Rahane's job is to just stick around but the fact has been Dhawan getting out early or scoring at a quite low run rate.

This is why it is a sh** squad. Given Indian pathetic bowling India needed to be loaded with some hard hitting batsmen right down till no.8. But we have array of dot ball kings in our line up.

I don't doubt his quality. He is quality. But his approach in one dayers is not going to help us or himself much. He would score 15 or 20 then few dot balls then a brain fart shot.. if he gets lucky he will continue get to 30.. another few dot balls another brain fart shot. this pattern will continue. He might make occasionaly 90 or 100. But to consistently score centuries up the order you need to learn to construct without taking any risks.

That is where support comes in.Brainfart shots come not bcoz Rahane is not scoring,but because runs arent coming from other end too.In last match vs England,Rahane was going at good SR but Rayudu was going at 25 SR.Result?Rahane had to take risk and got out. Rahane needs to improve sure,but hes hardly our biggest concern as OP is implying

Indian fans have lost the plot if they think Rahane or Dhawan were to blame for todays loss.

Are people blind to that fact? if anything it got progressively better as the new ball wore off. India did the hard part well and the easy part badly. Sometimes i really wonder about ICF. I realise thee are concerned with Rahane as an ODI player. I myself have some concerns in this regard. But i thought todays innings was fantastic from him.

adi B Posted January 30, 2015 Posted January 30, 2015 I agree with vvs,rahane can play on any type of track no doubt but he has a tendency to go for a pressure release shot just like nohit and there is a high probability of getting out watching him bat over the years in one day i think he needs to improve strike rotation and picking gaps else his strike rate will stagnate and he'll more often go for these big shots and gift his wkt. He is a good batsman but needs to learn
