V Pak when wickets fell, he usually used to go for containment but we could see actually went for the kill. Very unlike MS. Maybe with his head clear now with test retirement he can become a better-more pro-active OD captain So you mean he was aggressive in tri-series too? Hardly seemed so.

Still wish he stops his fetish of bowling part timers before regular bowlers and those leg slips but his captaincy was refreshing yesterday. Hope it continues. There's method to his madness regarding bowling the part timers during the middle overs, most teams just push it around during the middle overs and IMO it's worth trying to get rid of a few part time overs during that period provided the batsmen don't go after them, and if they do you can replace them. And the leg slip isn't there for catches, it's there to place a seed in the batsmens mind.

Its not as if all day he has that leg slip, there are going to be times when bowlers should be ready to bowl a certain line.

He now can't spread the field and he is forced to look for wickets early on. Also he is a different captain in ICC tournament. The intensity is brilliant.

Shunya Posted February 22, 2015 Posted February 22, 2015 I get a feeling he just uses other ODIs for experimentation lol:cantstop: Well he always emphasized on process of planning for couple of years before the WC....he mentioned couple of times in his interviews how he wants his team to have played 80-100 games to gain the experience before they enter the WC...people hate every move when we lose...Dhawan,Rohit,Rahane,Raina,JAddu,Ashwin,Yadav,Mohit....everyone was abused left right center when he continuously backed them all and we kept on losing at times...Now we have won and all of these players have showed up after all the backing...
adi B Posted February 22, 2015 Posted February 22, 2015 good captaincy by msd today.his field placing and angles were spot on today ,this is mcg and ur in fielders need to be on the 30 yard edge on the square else a shot just a couple of yards away from u will reach the fence in no time if u are standing very close. the bowlers bowled to their fields ,even yadav bowled consistently on the body when dhoni gave him 5 on the leg side,well done boys!!
sscomp32 Posted February 22, 2015 Posted February 22, 2015 Great Captaincy from MSD. :cheer: One thing which hindi commies constantly mentioned was his field placing when ABD was batting, He placed a fielder specially for the reverse sweep so that ABD is forced to play conventionally and this way he cant disturb the line lengths of the Bowler.
