profster Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 I don't know if this has been discussed for other IND vs. BD CWC matches or not, but let us appreciate Gurudev Tagore's unique achievement of composing both the lyrics and music for the national anthems of two different countries. :hatsoff: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jana_Gana_Mana http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amar_Sonar_Bangla For all the banter between the Indian and Bangla fans, despite the delusions of many a bangbro troll and the arrogance of some India fanboys, when India and Bangladesh play at the MCG tomorrow the rendition of the national anthems is a reminder of the ties that bind us. :two_thumbs_up: That said, I hope we win the toss and bat BD out of the game.
vishalvirsingh Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 Folks- if bangla bats first - they will be out under a score of 200 runs and india will chase comfortably. if india bast first - we will score 320+ and will restrict Bangladesh to under 250. we will win and our record of claiming all 10 wickets will also continue. IN short it will not be a competition at all.

profster Posted March 18, 2015 Author Posted March 18, 2015 Sri Lankan anthem was written by a student who studied at Santiniketan :two_thumbs_up: On a lighter note, the student should have been reprimanded for penning an overly long national anthem :-)
dial_100 Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 Sri Lankan anthem was written by a student who studied at Santiniketan SL national Anthem, Namo Namo Matha is so soulful as well. :hatsoff: It totally makes me go silent.
IndoCanada Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 Entire subcontinental population has some kind of bond. Gurudev made us proud in the world stage. Anyway back to cricket - please don't be so rude to bangla fan. How many times they got this kind of moment? its rare for them so they are very excited. India will easily win this match and I believe Indian team now focusing more on semifinal. Bangla fan i don't under estimate you, you guys have improved but not enough to be a threat for India. Enjoy the game good luck.

Many Indian fans are riled up by the inexplicable arrogance of the Bangla fans. We don't talk like this about Ireland or Zim do we? Their reputation is further tarnished by their abominable record after having been a test team for so long.
bengali333 Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 Proud that a Bengali has composed the lyric and music of both the anthems. Also Jana Gana Mana is a Sanskritised Bengali song. So glad that India, a country with a predominantly Hindi speaking population, has chosen a bengali national anthem. Off course Amar Sonar Bangla is also in Bengali.

Cricketics Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 I am amazed by how nicely Indian National has "Jaya he" as it gets concluded. The "Jaya he" part just gets the whole crowd going. Everyone just starts to sing together and it feels great in the stadium when all are chantin "Jaya he" together and that is what makes Indian national anthem so unique.

flamy Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 It is awesome to stand up and sing before every match :isalute: Brings back such awesome memories of India. *sigh*
Number Posted March 19, 2015 Posted March 19, 2015 MSD gets emotional at the end of it usually. I have seen his eyes were moist at the end of anthem in Ind-Pak Mohali match 2011.
