BeautifulGame Posted April 21, 2015 Posted April 21, 2015 We play 3 tests series in SriLanka in july-August and host SA for a 4 test series in October in India Ashwin is clearly our first choice spinner .His record in India is exceptional. But who is second choice spinner ? We played Ohja and Jadeja as part of spin attack last time we played in India .Jadeja is woeful currently and shouldn't be anywhere near the team. Ohja has a remodeled action and unproven with the new action .Can we risk him in international cricket without proving his effectiveness in domestic cricket again ? Wasn't much effective in Irani trophy either .Also Karn Sharma is out of his depth for test cricket as well. So who we should we choice as 2nd spinner for the upcoming test series ?Go back to Mishra ? Stick with Jadeja and Ohja ? Any new young spinner in Ranji trophy worth trying ?

Classical loopy leg spinner who actually turns the ball(unlike Chawla, Karn) is a visual treat. I think he needs to be given a decent run this year considering we play only in SC pitches. Ashwin/Mishra combo will be deadly methinks.

He bowls only at 80 kph unlike fast bowlers, who need to stretch themselves closer to the danger zone to reduce time for batsman to react. Even if Mishraji bowls from a feet behind the crease won't be a big issue.
Bigg Brother Posted April 21, 2015 Posted April 21, 2015 Jadeja is lethal to right handers when he strats turning the ball. Its the injury which is affecting his bowling.. Probably 3 spinners will be picked in squad and they should be:Ashwin,Mishra,Jaddu.

Considering his blistering batting lower order, he can be considered for our ODI set up. However, if we do not want to go to past players, i think Kuldeep Yadav is the best bet.

So you decide players for test matches based on ipl performances? Lol,anyhow bhajji did play a couple of test matches against England and aus in 2012-13 and he sucked big time on turners and hasn't performed well in the ranji.
