Looks like he has some technical flaws....but Dhoni has already proved that ODI cricket is not all about technique..... He will be a misfit for test side In which ever way....done enough to get into a A side (In Ranji's as well as in IPL) BTW....when is india's next A tour??

his technique looks good when he plays good shots so comparison with dhoni is not correct but his problem is not knowing which shots are high risk and losing shape while hitting leads to ball going in air but that is pretty much expected from 20 year old. most of times when he does play proper shots like cut shot to off spinner he covered it well played it late his weight was back so his basics are pretty good.. also way he lifts ball over off side he covers the ball well and rarely reaches for ball..he honestly to me looks like proper batsman playing shots rather than a hack.

You barely see a 20 year old with perfect technique. Technique is what suits one best to score.

I agree but all I want him to do is understand which shots make him lose balance and cut them down and replace it with easy shot to get single . Otherwise I do not see much problem with his technique its more of problem in his game which is down to inexperience and few seasons playing longer formats should fix that .

Sandeep sharma has been one of best bowlers in IPL ..he is swinging ball at decent pace so its not surprising and honestly batting against swing is 90 percent how to avoid playing most of deliveries and knowing your off stump and that cannot be judged in IPL where you have to chase wide deliveries and not play dot balls . People are forgetting he had pretty decent ranji season ..

We should look into developing players for 50 over format. Most good players will be able to get better in twenty20 once they can master the 50 over batting skills like rotation of strike etc. This is where yusuf pathan like players failed that they just relied on their hitting in twenty20 and could not be part of Indian set up for long. Once a player settles into 50 over side, he can pick twenty20 faster and do well.

Iyer will walk in Indian ODI team as opener much sooner than many anticipate in india.india should learn from other Asian countries to try new blood so oftenly.in the past injured player were selected for over seas tour more than one times No need to take them when you have such a good talent hang around in IPL plus.

The pre-determined move to back/front foot, the enormous backlift and the general unsteadiness at the crease made me uncomfortable. On the good side, he plays very late, knows how to find the gaps and is deceptively strong.

There are few good things about this kid , like his timing is pretty decent ..but he hits some where and the ball actually goes in a different direction . Am sorry this kid is nothing special .

Still his ondrives are very good which cannot be played well by hacks. He probably is an upright batsman like Stephen Fleming, Laxman .
