There was even a phrase to describe them - tigers at home, mouses abroad .... Ind in Ind was like an unconquerable fortress We also saw some amazing performances such as Ten 100 vs. Pak, Kum's 10-for, Kambli's back to back doubles, etc. One performance that was truly amazing and not seen that much was this: http://youtu.be/Q4NST8PVMJo Awesome vid that. Hansie was so critical of the pitch there at the end. Check this one as well: The second half has a video of Srinath bowling at Sydney(on the greenest of green tracks) in 2000 series. India was AO for 100 and we had them 5/59. A *****y decision saved Andrew Symonds who was plumb. I remember this match as when Symonds was given Not out, Srintah abused with covering his face and Gavaskar was praising him saying what a gentleman he is :haha: Srinath was an absolute legend IMO maybe not in terms of stats but looking at the kind of bowlers we have now and the facilties they get, Srinath is head and shoulders above him. And he bwoled a hell of a lot of overs that too in meaningless ODIs That team from 90's would hav wiped this team off in 3 days. And we had our moments then too like the Barbados test and the Cape town test in 1997 which the umpires ended abruptly. They were lacking in infrastrucutre otherwise they would have easily beaten a few teams.

Our greatest middle order ever was being groomed around this time. One of our finest fast bowler was playing for us throughout the 90s Azhar if not for the black mark he has on him was at one time the 2nd greatest odi bat we ever had. I think post 2011 is undoubtedly our worst phase since the 60s pre gavaskar era

Unfortunately, Indians don't talk about that much Srinath :hatsoff: Yeah it's unfortunate. Srinath could have done so much more given the ability that he had. But, in the 90's our whole infra was so minimal that we couldn't groom cricketers maybe. It changed post the Ganguly-Wright era and the results are to be seen.

Vijy Posted August 20, 2015 Posted August 20, 2015 For those of you who never had the chance to follow Indian cricket in 90s, great news! It's back to the 90s all over again!!! Here are a few similarities and feel free to add more... 1. Barely 2-3 decent batsmen and if the top order fails you can kiss the match goodbye. 2. Tail starts at 5 and when you see Saha come out to the middle, it's eerily similar how you felt when you saw More or Mongia come to the crease. 3. Bowlers mostly useless both with the bat and the ball. 4. Match is still not over even if you need 50 runs with 6 wkts in hand, and most probably you will see an epic batting collapse. 5. No match is ever safe or won and you can lose from any position. 6. Tigers at home and hopeless away. If it's an away match, you may as well not waste time and effort since the result is a foregone conclusion. 7. Fragile and brittle under pressure. Hint of pressure and you know how the result will unfold. 1. Even in the early 90s, we had SRT, Siddhu and Azhar, and in the mid 90s, we also had Dravid, Laxman and Ganguly. Of the current bunch, there is none who (as of now) equals SRT and Dravid, and possibly Laxman. 2. Saha is a better bat than More for sure, and possibly Mongia as well. 3. We had Kumble and Srinath in the 90s (even Venky has a better record than ishant and Yadav). Ashwin has been a big plus thus far, and Ojha = Raju. Agree with 4 and 5 and 7. 6. Will probably get whooped by Saffers.
