rkt.india Posted August 26, 2015 Posted August 26, 2015 Aaron is not genuine pacer sorry, he is fast but he has no life threatening pace nor he has any command of line and length. His lack of command could be overlooked if he had any wicket taking ability. There is more to bowling than hurling the ball at decent pace, these guys for some reason are not developing any wicket taking delivery or in case of Ishant refining his stock delivery which was that inswinger. IMO all Ishant had to do was use the crease more and use it as his friend to create more angles. He would have been totally different bowler since he has ability to reverse swing. Using the crease as weapon takes lot of hard work as the final delivery strides have to be smooth and follow thru should be seamless so that they are not running on danger area. Aaron is as quick as any bowler playing currently. He outpaced Johnson on Aus tour and you are saying he isn't genuine quick. Laughable it is. Regarding life threatening pace, no pace is really life threatening with all the safety equipments. 30 years back, this was as life threatening as you can get.

sage Posted August 26, 2015 Posted August 26, 2015 overall, though. i still think he lacks: - skill - ability - reason to live
Vijy Posted August 26, 2015 Posted August 26, 2015 He'd be lucky to get his average less than 35 He might hover around that mark.

A perfect example is Jason Gillespie. He is similar to Ishant in terms of height and can get the inswinger going. To make it effective he used the crease a lot and also pitched it up. When you have the inswinger it is better to try and hit the stumps rather than bowl at 6th stump line because you are not going to get outside edges unless it's a left hander.

Classic example of a bowler changing from okay to ATG is Imran Khan, he never had an outswinger but he was so good in using the crease bowling wide and getting batsmen committed to play , even if ball straightened a little bit it had an outswinger effect and with reverse swing he become unplayable. All Ishant does it aim for fifth or sixth stump and when batsmen don't take bait he is forced to come closer and is pick off for easy runs. Now bowling so called bouncer with new ball is almost pathetic, if that is all he has in his arsenal to get wickets.

Imran made quite a few tweaks technically evolving from very ordinary start into one of Pak's finest pacemen.
moniker Posted August 26, 2015 Posted August 26, 2015 Aaron reminds me a lot of Fidel Edwards...Killer short pitch ball......genuine pace but nothing apart from those.....but I think he is a good cog in a complete and nice attack but does not have the it factor to stand alone. As far as Ishant goes,You can't compare him with Aaron...Ishant ahs that extra bounce and a decent inswinger......skills wise he is way ahead of Aaaron. Yadav has the Pace and skills but too inconsistent, just when he was developing as you said,he had that career pause due to a lot of political and other external factros Yadav hasn't been as bad as he's made out to be. He just had a horrible tour of Australia skewing his figures. He averaged 32ish at an excellent strike rate of 41 before that tour. Even after that tour his strike rate didn't take as much of a hit as his average. He should be used in short bursts as a strike bowler.
rkt.india Posted August 27, 2015 Posted August 27, 2015 Bowling odd ball at high speed and maintaining high speed most the spell are two different. Life threatening means putting fear of getting hurt to even main batsmen, Johnson is one guy in recent past after Lee and Akthar who did that to batsmen. Aaron is nowhere in that range on a consistent basis. He was consistently quicker than Johnson in Australia, on average pace too. One of his spell with the okd ball at Adelaide was as quick as you have seen in test cricket. Watson and Warner were in all sorts of trouble in that spell.

Lol u have know idea .Do not make a fool of yourself.Aaron was consistenly quicker than johnson in aus.Same johnson was handled easily by our batsman in aus.Remember what happened to broad or ali against aaron.Pitches play a major role and type of batsman you are bowling to.Aaron is a quick as johnson if not quicker.Akhtar was diff as he was express 155+ in spells.

Did I say Johnson bowled faster than Aaron during Indian series, why are you inferring something which I never said, All I said Johnson was last guy in recent past who put that fear of getting hurt in batsmen. Johnson certainly was bowling express in 2008 when he was ICC player of year,When he was hurting Proteas for fun, read the reaction of Kallis, Smith and other Proteas or search youtube. Just because you think like a fool don't assume others do too.You may think Aaron is super fast , IMO he is not super fast.

Did u even read what i wrote.First of all u said aaron bowls one odd fast ball where as stats show on average he was quicker than the quickest bowler in the world. Johnson was bowling at similar speeds matter of fact quicker in last few years than 2008 .Matter of fact He was bowling at 140-155k/ph during the ashes of 2013/14 but Pitches and Technical deficiencies of english batsman made him look unplayable other teams did not have such a problem against johnson . Even ishant sharma bounced out england and aaron troubled all of their batsman with bouncers,So stop this bullshit.
CG Posted August 27, 2015 Posted August 27, 2015 Here are speed comparisons of ashes 2013-http://www.espncricinfo.com/the-ashes-2013-14/engine/match/592397.html?view=hawkeye Johnson Fastest-92 mph average 86 Against India -2014 http://www.espncricinfo.com/australia-v-india-2014-15/engine/match/754739.html?view=hawkeye Fastest 91.6 average 87 Aaron Fastest- 93.5 average- 89 In 2008 mitch was not the player of the year btw. This shows he had actually bowled same pace but pitches and quality of batsman were the diff

Eveninn the recent aus tour he picked 10 wkts in the first 2 tests @34 ,it was only in Sydney where he was blasted(it really was a flat highway,a deathbed for bowlers). Actually in yadav's career if you remove both the Sydney tests he has played (2012 and 2015) where he went for 120 runs each without picking a wkt ,his stats are very good

It is all about the kind of pitches you bowl on. Look at that Perth pitch when he injured Smith. Johnson has far more accurate bouncer because he is more experienced and has played in these pitches whole his life. He knows how to use the bounce. You are comparing a 70 test veteran to someone who has played 7 test matches.

Stop pedlling this bullshit, Varun aaron is as fast as anyone and his bouncers are DEADLY, Aaron's vicious bouncer which broke the nose of Broad led to him being mentally scarred and he is getting psychological help after facing that delivery and his batting ability has regressed to an equivalent of No.11 batsmen after that dangerous bouncer from Varun: http://www.espncricinfo.com/icc-cricket-world-cup-2015/content/story/842583.html http://www.espncricinfo.com/england-v-india-2014/content/story/768597.html http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/cricket/article-2977882/Stuart-Broad-ve-nightmares-Old-Trafford-injury.html
