gakgupta Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 (edited) Well...May be there is a chance....Pace attack seems to be improving all the time......And just raw pace wise...this is the best attack from quite some time(last time i have seen 3 bowlers hitting 140+ was in 2003 world cup)...2 wicket keeper batsmen....who have the potential to be gilly ...rishab pant and jharkand wkt keeper (don't know the name)Couple of decent allrounders....who has potential as well...(jayant yadav, hardik pandya)Unfortunately, we don't have a great batsmen...of sachin, lara or ricky stature......probably that will not make us best circketing nation esp overseas in test matches Edited November 18, 2015 by gakgupta doccricket 1
Pagalpanti Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 India is lacking 3 things that are required for a top test team. An attacking opener (Potential candidate - Dhawan who doesn't inspire much hope)A run machine in middle order (Potential Candidates - Rahane/Kohli both blow hot and cold and don't score consistently)A pace spearhead (Potential Candidate - Ishant has given us false hopes plenty of time for us to fall for it again, Aaron will need time and will have to avoid injuries to become one)A captain willing to go for win at any cost - Check! doccricket 1
express bowling Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 (edited) Our biggest challenge is the lack of sub-30 average bowlers in outside subcontinent test matches. Ishant is the only one who has managed to do this in the last 2 years. In the subcontinent we have 2 such bowlers in Ashwin and Jadeja.Lack of above 50 average test batsmen is a big challenge too. Kohli, Rahane and Vijay have been very good overseas but others haven't. Kohli and Rahane need to be more consistent in the sub-continent. We need at least one, if not 2, batsmen who are run machines.A good batting all-rounder at no.6 is still missing too.Kohli's will to win at all costs , trying to developing a bowling culture in our team and encouraging bowlers is the biggest plus for our test side though and the above mentioned challenges maybe met in the near future as a result. When there is a will there is a way. Edited November 18, 2015 by express bowling doccricket 1
Rightarmfast Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 I think Yes! Most definitely YES! I mean just look at the challenges. They are very few! India is only lacking in 2 good openers. Thats not bad. India is just lacking in 3 good batsmen for middle order, 1 good wicketkeeper, and only 5 quality bowlers. Rest all is perfect!I actually foresee that in near future 2045, we should be the world champions!
maniac Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 We have players who can single-handedly win games, more than any other nation...it's a matter of gelling together much like the WI and Aus did in the past.Rohit,Kohli,Ishant,Dhawan,Ashwin,Rahane,Vijay,Pujara and even Sir Jadeja all have the ability to single-handedly win games for the team and they have proven that on multiple occasions doccricket 1

amiret Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 No chance . we could not achieve in the last 3 decades.Unless we win in Aus and SA , we don't deserve to call ourselves the best team in the world.
maniac Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 No chance . we could not achieve in the last 3 decades.Unless we win in Aus and SA , we don't deserve to call ourselves the best team in the world. wow you are one positive person Anyways we did have a group of special players from 2004 -2011 onwards that came together and we won a series in England,WI(no big deal but still feather in the cap), Drew a series in S.A against S.A against a X1 that was probably one of their best ever fielded,Drew a series against an ATG Australia, Won a series in Pak against a very strong Pak side and that too on their home turf,Won a series in Newzealand......Infact the only thing we didnt accomplish was a series victory in Srilanka in this period. Before you go on a tangent about how you dont care about draws and only wins matter and all that crap....let me fast forward to post 2011 post 2011.... where we are getting our ass kicked everywhere, we won a series in srilanka pretty comprehensively.....but still doesnt feel right as the Srilankan team looks pretty mediocre compared to what they where a few years back.So the point of my rant is we have already had a preiod when everything just aligned for us and were ranked NO1 ,with the strong pool of cricketers I don't see why not...again I am not saying it will happen a 100% but atleast there is a chance based on what heppened in the past. doccricket 1
Ankit_sharma03 Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 Yes,Players in wings xcite me- Iyer, nair, pandya, samson, kuldeep, nathu, thakur, jayant yadav, mann, Aniket, Sran, Warrior , Bains, Ishan kishenEvery year a few more wud b addedBut wat xcites me the most is Captain Kohli attitude to be the best in worldWe always had the quality but lacked the added which has wat made aus wat it was n even Wi in 70s-80sKohli has righ attitude , Attitude to win thats wat matters. HE ll loose everybody does , he ll make mistakesBut he ll win more than other coz he thinks about winning 1st If u look at our test side it looks quite gud n most of them r young n wud play for next 8-10 yrs Problem lies in short formats thinking needs to changed there n we do have some xciting talent on bench doccricket 1

Wasim9211 Posted November 19, 2015 Posted November 19, 2015 (edited) well, each zone in India has some talent , we can select 17 of those best player among 2 keeper.one Naman other Ishan k. So on and on and send them to Australia for 7 match multi day games plus 2 ODI other wise BCCI Rules Quota system in India no matter how talented you are,you ends up nothing like Badrinath and sidharth Trevedi.i personally believe Stuart Binny do not deserves in Indian team in home test matches,he scored 78 not out in his debut match to save India from defeat in England but something still missing as all-rounder.i bet someone-else will make it for Nagpur and Delhi test. Badrinath was a paper tiger, did not have strokes, temperament , n was selfish never took responsibility either for a experienced player, rather like Bevan, DMongia, N DMongia its OK if we don't win as long as I'm not out kind (Ravi Shastri) too. S Trivedi was mediocre too, guys who are hard done by, Pankaj Singh, Suyal, Kamran Khan, Javed Khan, K Jadhav, even Kuruvilla was selected when he was very old n had slowed down.We have better allrounder then these guys, S Mundhe, Irfan Making a good comeback, Parvez Rasool .Selctors R blind to the obvious potential n talent, wonder what good can picking up Unadkunt, Vinee, Aravind do? Get in Suyal, Aniket, Sran, R Shukla, Warrier, A Rajpoot,Mandeep, Manish, Mayank, Sarfaraz, K Yadav, S Gopal, Y Chahal, Pandya, D Hooda, Avesh, Worse part of BCcI is unprofessional n unimaginative selectors, We can uneart some fine fast bowlers from Bihar n those areas easily.Basic steps need to be taken, 3 teams 3 formats n new captains in Odi n T20, focus on talent scouting n development , Dhoni needs to go, so the current selectors, someone like Dravid, Ganguly be made head of talent wing n also senior role in selections, Patil n the current guys R idiots
express bowling Posted November 19, 2015 Posted November 19, 2015 (edited) dont know what has Shami at all done in test cricket?Shami has 47 wickets from 12 tests....@ 3.91 wickets per test....displays his wicket taking ability at test level. This is the best among all our pacers in a long time. rkt.india Posted November 19, 2015 Posted November 19, 2015 Shami has 47 wickets from 12 tests....@ 3.91 wickets per test....displays his wicket taking ability at test level. This is the best among all our pacers in a long time. Munaf had 4 wickets per test after 6 tests and most of his wickets were taken and not gifted. Umesh had 32 wickets after 8 tests at 4 wickets per test, most of his wickets were good balls. Shami got a lot of gifted wickets in Aus when batsmen were trying to hit out. He was rubbish in England and below average in Australia.
