PBN Posted February 6, 2016 Posted February 6, 2016 When you see him play for the first time, you could tell Iyer had lots of potential. Draft this kid into the Indian team already will you? He'll learn a lot more and mature as batsman. The selectors probably want him to play domestic for a couple of seasons before blooding him but he could still have been drafted into the t20/odi setup and still play domestic first class. One player to watch out for sure tweaker and Rasgulla 2
king kobra Posted February 6, 2016 Posted February 6, 2016 After ipl we have 1 test against Bangladesh or may be 1 against Zimbabwe in this match iyar karun nair will select tweaker 1
diga Posted February 7, 2016 Posted February 7, 2016 Think after world t20, selectors will try out new faces for the world cup in England... Will be a good idea to have A-tours to England & Newzealand and gauge from them. Most probably Dhoni/Raina/Yuvraj will anyway retire/discarded after world-t20
BlueBee Posted February 7, 2016 Posted February 7, 2016 ^ Raina is only 29. He won't retire or get discarded. He will play till 2019 WC atleast
diga Posted February 7, 2016 Posted February 7, 2016 Doubt he will play in England as a finisher.. anyway Shreyas is yet to play in any India-A games. Hopefully he is selected for all A tours and exposed to all sorts of conditions
tweaker Posted February 7, 2016 Posted February 7, 2016 Shreyas has played in A games against Aus A & SA A..He got the starts in those matches & scored 40+ scores briskly ,but he was not able to convert it in to big scores Old guy and express bowling 2
rkt.india Posted February 7, 2016 Posted February 7, 2016 He needs to tighten his game, first assess the conditions and then start playing his shots. Old guy 1
tweaker Posted February 7, 2016 Posted February 7, 2016 He is playing the shots too many ,if he had converted his 40 s into big score ,he may have break into Indian squad by now
renjith Posted February 7, 2016 Posted February 7, 2016 Really surprised to see raina is only 29.I hope selectors are waiting for Iyer to complete 2 first class sessions before drafting into indian team. Otherwise he should already have been into odi and t20 teams.Eventhough he has played some big knocks in first class, he has this problem of throwing it away with a loose shot after getting 30-40.

His contribution is limited in high profile domestic tourney's like recently concluded deodhar trophy ..... he should strat converting those 30 / 40''s to centuries....Also he had bad india A gamesNeeds to figure out his game

The huge talent is there. He needs a little more time to mature for tests and ODis. I think he is fit for T20s even now.

express bowling Posted February 8, 2016 Posted February 8, 2016 Needs to convert more 50s to 100s. Too often bashes it quickly and then gets out.I would like that too but he has 5 hundreds from 23 FC matches....which is quite acceptable, especially for a young guy whose conversion rates are often on the lower side and pick-up when they mature. tweaker 1

But remember that Jinx and Chepu had far better conversion rates at around the same age - now, I'm not saying they're better or anything, but I certainly do want to see Iyer score bigger knocks. In fact, he seems to get starts very regularly (gets out cheaply rarely) but doesn't score those big (or even small) 100s.

I would love to have such a player in our test team eventually. They put a lot of pressure on the opposition when they play good knocks.Iyer averages 56 and has a SR of 82 in FC.http://www.espncricinfo.com/india/content/player/642519.html Edited February 8, 2016 by express bowling flamy and vishalvirsingh 2

In SC, we can get away with 4 bowlers, and Iyer should play instead of Nohit.
PBN Posted February 26, 2016 Author Posted February 26, 2016 (edited) Iyer making an impact even in big games. Century in Ranji trophy final. kudos to him Edited February 26, 2016 by PBN
express bowling Posted February 26, 2016 Posted February 26, 2016 (edited) Iyer's stroke-play was impressiveScoring the only hundred of the final match ( a low scoring game ) was commendable too.But.......the way he handled the bouncers from Unadkat...bowled at 130 k to 135 k...is a cause of worry. He needs to work on this aspect. Edited February 26, 2016 by express bowling
Bigg Brother Posted February 26, 2016 Posted February 26, 2016 There is noway that he wont be picked after 2 fabulous season..Will replace Rohit or Rahul.
