express bowling Posted March 16, 2016 Posted March 16, 2016 I was apprehensive of the pitch from the 3rd over itself. When the ball starts to slow down after pitching and the pitch progressively worsens, It is very difficult to chase down even moderate totals. Tosses are extremely crucial on such decks and it went against us today.I would give a lot of credit to the NZ team management for reading the pitch correctly and going with 3 spinners. Our team management missed a trick today. The selectors should have had Mishra in the squad and the team management should have played the extra spinner today in place of Nehra. The approach of many of our experienced batsmen on such a pitch was wrong. They should not have tried to force the pace and played normally and wait for loose deliveries that are bound to come along. Our top 2 spinners did not bowl well at all on this kind of a pitch. Finally, I would have liked Ashwin to bat ahead of both Pandya and Jadeja on a pitch such as this, where survival was the need of the hour and not stroke-play.We have to be a bit more flexible with our team selection and batting order ....based on the pitch and conditions.
rkt.india Posted March 16, 2016 Posted March 16, 2016 Yes congrats to NZ but as I said earlier there is no excuse for any team that gets out below 100 in T20.Decent batsmen everywhere can rotate strike and take score to 100 plusThis is the problem when pitch is sticky and ball is turning miles, it is difficult to even rotate the strike. Scoring more than 6 rpo isn't possible on such a pitch. At times, they even struggled to put bat to ball, it was turning so much. NZ should not have scored more than 80-100 in the first place if our two main spinners had bowled better.
renjith Posted March 16, 2016 Posted March 16, 2016 Our team is heavily over rated for this world cup. Don't be surprised if we do not make semis.
Temujin Khaghan Posted March 16, 2016 Posted March 16, 2016 Rohit and Rahane buckle under pressuresuprisingly shikar dhawan gives a fight under pressure situations, but gifts his wicket away anyway. Ankit_sharma03 1
Silva Posted March 16, 2016 Posted March 16, 2016 With the same playing XI on this pitch new zealand would beat us 8-9 times out of 10. Ashwin is our only wicket taking spinner. it wasnt a fluke win imo. express bowling 1

coffee_rules Posted March 16, 2016 Posted March 16, 2016 The pitch got worse, very rarely all batsmen fail, so no need to put them down. On a better pitch they will comeback , they have ability to beat all sides on their day. Now they have to win it all and expect others not to do well. India always starts slow in tournaments.
Rightarmfast Posted March 16, 2016 Posted March 16, 2016 Dear OP, I am sorry, but the title of the thread is wrong. It shouldn't be ' Match ke Mujrim', it should be - ' Mujrimon kaa Match' express bowling 1
Ankit_sharma03 Posted March 16, 2016 Posted March 16, 2016 if u have to really put on blame , it has to be team mgmt or ground staff for producing such a wkt.On green wkt, u can make a 120k bowler malcolm marshalon rank turner even guys like any ordinary spinner looks like muralidharan All it takes is just one ball to get a batsman out and rank turners never get better to play, they only get worst. Had Nz batted second same wud have happ to them. I hope we dnt see such pitches in tournament further where toss becomes such a cruical things.Saying that shot selection of Rohit n shikhar was really disappointing, they hardly use their brain and analyse the situation . 1st 6 over were damn cruicial , becoz it was easy to score against new ball and one of the batsman could have played out .Raina n yuvi still playing with hard hand on spin bowling, like really one has played 300 odi other almost 250. Kohli n Dhoni tried, but there had to be a day where they both wud fail. This team needs more ppl to step up in crucial situation
zen Posted March 16, 2016 Posted March 16, 2016 As I said earlier, the mindset to go in with the same 11 and same batting order hurt Ind On the match thread, I had said that Ind should hv been flexible enough to promote Pandya to open to do the pinch hitting. When the pitch is getting worse as the match progresses, you have to aim to get as many as possible in the PP. Then one of the settled batsmen can play around till the end Not saying that it would hv definitely worked. Pandya may hv got out on the first ball. But the intent has to be shownAlso Bhajji should hv played in place of Pandya or one of the batsmen who are known to struggle vs spin
