to omit Boult, Southee, McClaghan from playing 11

Did he reach pitch so right? Even if pitch was turner, still very bold move to leave top pacers against Indian batting

In the NZ cricket circles, Kane has the reputation of a no nonsense deadly cold calculative person. He is the type who doesn't care how big or popular you are, if you aren't performing well or the pitch doesn't suit your strengths, he will not select you.

Today, by not playing his reputed fast bowlers, he proved that. Other captains would have persisted with some 'name' players.

Overall, a common sense strategy and something that many have been advocating that Ind do esp during Asia Cup .... However, as they say common sense is not common in all

At the start of the game, I felt NZ could have played one of the quicks in place of a batsman. Apart from that it was a horses for courses strategy. At D'shala, if the conditions demand, I will not be surprised to see NZ play more quicks

Much better than us carrying passengers like Yuvraj and Rahane and playing one of them no matter what. Yuvraj is useless on turning pitches and against better bowlers whereas Rahane can't bat in any position other than as an opener. We don't have anyone to turn to even if we need to. Williamson and NZ are not in the same position.

Whether a strategy works or not in the end ....it has  to be formulated based on the playing conditions and the pitch.

NZ read the pitch better than us.....played a team according to the playing conditions and their strategy worked today.

Our team management need to be a bit more flexible in their team selection policy. In the Asia Cup, I wanted us to play the extra pacer in place of Jadeja....here we needed to play the extra spinner in place of Nehra.
