Pakistan bowling in England and England Batting versus them,Overhyped?

Pak bowlers are not overhyped. They probably have the best bowling attack from Asia. We need to be patient with Amir, he has bowled well till now but hasn't bowled those freakish banana swing spells like he bowled in 2010.

England batting on the other hand has never been the same since KP , Bell and Prior left.

England batting may not be individually good but since it is such a long line-up it evens out.

Pakistani bowling is overrated. Yasir is good. Amir is good. Others are not that good.

Amir is lucky to be making a comeback in England , what he had shown in the past is that he can use the conditions well & I think if he does not do well here he wont last long ..He will struggle a lot on faltter pitches .

Wahab is actually their best talent , but isnt consistent & its probabaly too late for him .

Rahat Ali is one bowler I would watch out for , is talented and skillfull . One bowler who can pick up wickets in flat pitches as well .

Yasir is very good , infact makes their bowling look good otherwise they have a overrated one dimensional pace attack

The pitches havent assisted as much as it did in 2010 , like I said if they get few more flat pitches ..his career will end early

2010 was a season when the conditions were unusually favourable to the bowlers. He isnt getting those conditions again.

I like how the opinion of you guys kept changing 180 degree and is based on hardly one day's of play... sometimes even it changes session-by-session...

People have been saying the same here for sometime. While YAsir is class and Amir is good rest of the bowling is very avg.

Amir was a rare-talent at start of last match... became Most "Overrated" bowler in The World in 2nd inng till 5 minutes prior final 2 wickets and became wonderful bowler to watch when match got finished...

and obv its not limited for Paksitani players, its even worse in case of indian players...
Ishant sharma taking couple of quick wickets right in start of spell would be someone around Waqar younis class and right in next session going wicket-less would become a horrible player to be included in playing 11...

You are mistaking the view point of your fellow Pakistanis with the rest of the forum here.Amir was touted as a Wasim Akram like talent by Pakistanis, thats what was the hype Pakistanis created about him.All based on that one series in Eng in very conducive conditions. He is a good bowler but not some once in a lifetime bowling talent that Pakistanis hype him to be.

Secondly out of the 4 bowlers that Pakistan has fielded only 2 are good, rest others very avg.So overall the bowling is overhyped.

The hype that Ben Stokes gave about Yasir is the 180 degree one. He called him the best after Shane Warne, I don't agree.

Yasir Shah is good, so is Amir. But, not like the best the world has ever seen.

Pakistan's bowling is good not even great but batting is mediocre at best, even good bowling sides like Ambrose, Walsh n co were way Ahead let aside, marshal, Lillee, Waseem n their line ups

If I see the bowling attacks of both sides, I would take Anderson and Broad over Rahat Ali and Amir any day in English conditions.

To add to your point....Amir is primarily a swing bowler and has does well in swing-friendly conditions like England.  In his rather short test career, all his success has been while bowling in England and he has played 50% of his tests there.  For him to  be known as a top test bowler, he has to do well in other countries too.  Only time will tell if he succeeds in this aspect.

This is how he has fared in test matches in different countries so far.

                                                                                                                   Average

in Australia 2009-2010 2 4 94.0 22 323 8 5/79 5/180 40.37 3.43 70.5 1 0 view innings
in England 2010-2016 8 14 264.4 55 761 35 6/84 7/106 21.74 2.87 45.3 2 0 view innings
in New Zealand 2009-2009 3 6 95.0 22 306 7 2/29 4/116 43.71 3.22 81.4 0 0 view innings
in Sri Lanka 2009-2009 3 6 80.0 14 261 6 3/38 6/112 43.50 3.26 80.0 0 0

http://stats.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/player/290948.html?class=1;template=results;type=bowling

He has played very few tests and these stats do not mean much.  It is possible that he will do well in  other countries too but for that he has to improve his ability to get consistent seam movement and bounce.  Till the time he actually does so, he cannot be called a potential great.

p.s - I am just talking about his test bowling.  He is a far better ODI bowler as he bowls quicker in LOIs and  his natural length and accuracy is ideal for LOIs.
