Yes Iyer deserves a go as he is a genuine batsman not bits and pieces But patience and persistence with Dhoni paid off. Same thing with our young and emerging cricketers who are doing well in FC.

Before picking a player known for allrounder skills...you have to think,is he good enough to play as a batsman alone or a bowler....Is Pandya a better batsman than Pandey/Rahul/Iyer/Nair/Raina/Yuvraj/Hooda etc etc all vying for the same 5 or 6 position depending on where Dhoni bats. Is he good to give you 10 overs even if it is in the middle overs when teams are consolidating? What if he is injured and can't bowl? Kallis/Watson/Anderson etc etc could play on their batting alone. What if is batting is suddenly useless-Afridi/Russell(in LOI's) etc etc can make up with the ball. What exactly is Pandya's skill here? tweaker 1

Well, he is touted as an all rounder, so should be batting and bowling according to me. From what I have seen of him, he is a big hitter. So, it has to be his batting that is the main skill. And regarding evaluating his skills, why not wait for at least 6 months before passing a judgement of his ability? tweaker 1
MCcricket Posted July 25, 2016 Posted July 25, 2016 H Pandya has many things going for him, he is supremely fit with a lithe body, a trier, bowls at good pace n will learn a few tricks as he plays mode but is a quick learner. He is a naturally gifted batter too n his hand eye coordination ordination n bat speed is very good, this guy under a good captain n sporting body say like Australia or England could be a proper all rounder in test as well. Binny n other options R not even worthy of playing for a domestic side as all rounders, only other all rounder we have is Ashwin, if Bhuvi is smart he batter take his batting seriously because as a bowler alone he can never be a regular express bowling and tweaker 2

Probably, you forgot IPL 2015. He played quite a few such innings and he was the biggest reason MI could win the IPL. That IPL brought him into limelight. They were about to be kicked out before he was included in their XI and he changed their fortunes. He was the highest run getter in Sayed Mushtaq Ali trophy, batted mostly at 3-4 for Baroda. He lost his form this IPL which can happen to anyone. T20 is the toughest format for any out of form player. It can make a mockery out of you. Also, we cannot compare, Stokes and Woakes to Pandya. Those two are domestic veterans having played 90 plus FC matches. Pandya has barely played 10 odd matches yet. He has the potential but needs to gain more FC experience. this was that inning. http://www.espncricinfo.com/indian-premier-league-2015/engine/match/829805.html Edited July 26, 2016 by rkt.india tweaker 1

Any team in world will be happy to have one of them as wicketkeeper. Together they add 3 solid batsman playing 11 who you can choose to fit into tests, odi and t20 squad. What we got is Dhoni (Offcourse a legend but nearing retiring age) for limited overs and then Saha,Ojha Rahul who arent giving chance. Saddening bit is no other country apart from England is producing a genuine Bowling/batting all rounder since Kallis era. It will be very interesting how the three perform In India tweaker 1
Lala Posted July 26, 2016 Posted July 26, 2016 (edited) Woakes is an ordinary bowler where he struggles in subcontinent conditions. I rate Jordan over him a good death overs bowler. Edited July 26, 2016 by Lala Misbah 1
Temujin Khaghan Posted July 26, 2016 Posted July 26, 2016 stokes batting is super... but.. woakes is the better player to have in the team in case of a toss up b/w the two wrt winning capability and also attitude. tweaker 1

Well.....can u name few all-rounder who were ready when they started their career?? I rate Flintoff really high and he was piss poor when he started playing for England..... Same thing applies for Ben Stokes.... Sometimes , all-rounder are not ready-made......so we should try to make them.....this experiment might fail but we should invest and assume it might work..... Pandya has the zeal and he is willing to learn.....he is a good fielder ....we have seen him playing relatively long innings in ranjis and can hit 140 speeds....he has all ingredients to invest Sent from my XT1068 using Tapatalk tweaker, MCcricket, philcric and 1 other 4
