For me waqar bowled loads of terrific inswinging yorkers and we are yet see any bowler who is comparable to him.

These were almost unplayable. We rarely see inswinging yorkers these days. Bowlers like malinga usually bowl gun barrel straight yorkers.

two yorkers which were a nightmare for any indian fan , but after years when i see it i say woww

akhtar manhandled NZ in their tour in 2008/09  guess .. took most of his wickets with yorkers

waqar vs england in england was tragic for egland .. they were sitting ducks when ball started reversing

Also in 2002 on Pak pitches, his yorker to fleming in 1999Wc. These video are available on youtube but with very bad quality. Those were gems. For me Stumps shattering was the most amazing sight in cricket better than even anyone's batting

What's mind boggling for me a lot of times is most of these yorkers aren't super pacy 155K deliveries. They're mostly bowled at 140K-145K(Flintoff got Kallis twice in 2 overs on 85mph deliveries). I see Shami, Yadav and others bowling quicker all the time but much lesser batsmen being able to negotiate them with ease.

Starc in Srilanka currently is a great example of that. His faster deliveries are 149-152Ks but his yorkers on which he picked up wickets were at low 140s. What and why can these bowlers do it at that pace against the likes of Kallis, Lara etc. and we struggle against the likes of Braithwaite and Chase at same or better pace.

I'll throw the Ws out of this because they picked up wickets on yorkers due to bottle cork manufactured reverse swing rather than pace.

Its generally the late swing that makes yorker lethal.

Here is one example- Irfan pathan's excellent yorker, speed 133. But it was lethal becoz it swing really late,

Agreed, but people mistake that as pace. Wasim for example was never more than 140K bowler but got the notoriety of being fast due to his angle and swing rather than out and out pace.

Wasim was more like Steyn? He could bowl quick whenever he wanted.

Aaron consistently bowled inswinging yorkers at Adelaide on India's last tour to Aus but batsmen are more equipped to handle them these days.

trajectory and surprise element is also important when bowling yorkers.

For left handers, Waqar used to happily concede for 2 boundaries with juicy wide away going balls and next one the perfect in-swinging right in toes... Jayasuria used to be one easy victim of this... For Lara, he took 5 to set him up... Real amazing aspect was execution of final delivery...

Waqar got them with (bottle cap induced) swing more than anything else. Its no coincidence that his strike rate dropped from its lofty perch as that was revealed.

Among Wasim, Waqar and Shoaib: Only shoaib used to take wickets mainly with 'Pace' factor or using angles etc... Wasim was just a 137k bowler but was some artist with ball; probably the most complete pacer I have seen... Waqar at his peak was unplayable because of pace with swing but even more importantly The Perfection...
