LOI affecting Indian batting?

Just saw Kohli's dismissal. Playing a ball way outside off, edged and dismissed.

 

Boult to Kohli, OUT, gone! Kohli, Kohli, chasing at a ball wide outside off. This was full, but not quite a half-volley, and on a pitch with this sort of bounce, you shouldn't be playing with an angled bat. Ends up slicing it off the outside half of his bat to gully, where Latham takes it brilliantly, leaping to his right and grabbing it over his head

 

Even Rohit tried to do that in 2nd inning in Kanpur test. It was worse as he was trying to defend a ball way outside off.

We need more number of specialist Test players. Influence of IPL T20 and ODIs.

Leaving the ball or defending solidly, they have forgotten.

It's just Kohli though, correct?  Dhawan and Rohit didn't ever really look great over their numerous chances. Kohli did well on 3 of the 4 overseas tours we completed. Vijay/Pujara don't play LOI, and Rahane has excelled everywhere overseas. 

 

Kohli just can't stop fishing at wide deliveries. The thing is, he was almost perfect leaving wide deliveries in SA against Steyn and Philander. Since the England tour he has been getting out this way consistently. Dravid was giving batting advice to the team during our last SA tour. Maybe Virat needs to speak with him to sort this glitch out.

appalling test batting by dhawan and kohli today.

MV got a peach of a delivery, so can't say much.

Or just that only Pujara Vijay and Rahane are quality batsman .

Dhawan is useless against helpful conditions and so far on the evidence Kohli doesn't seem any better n that regard

Rohit is well special case

Every batsman did badly in the unofficial  test matches in Australia.....there is no ready replacement.

 

Also, too many test specialists would go against creating superstars....I don't think BCCI would opt for a move that would affect the popularity of the game.

Kohli should have played a Duleep Trophy match and acclimatized  himself  to the slow Indian pitches in 5-day matches. His natural game is suited to the ball coming on to the bat and bouncing well....we get that in LOIs but not in test matches in India.  He needs to adjust mentally as well as technically to our slow test pitches.  One long innings in India would do him a world of good.

 

He also needs to get set before playing his strokes.  Has done it almost every time he has played a long innings in the past but is not doing so in this series.

Except Kohli and Rahane, we should have entirely different sets of batsmen for Tests and ODIs. I've been advocating this for a while..

 

Throw Dhawan and Rohit out of the test squad.. Get in Mukund and Amit Mishra and play 5 bowlers

 

Playing XI should be: Mukund, Vijay, Pujara, Kohli, Rahane, Ashwin, Saha, two of Jaddu/Mishra/Bhuvi, Shami, Umesh

no....not LOI batting but Kohli's liking for quick runs (not only for him but for entire team) have been effecting the test batting.....

If pujara was allowed to play at his own pace, he would have scored big century......

Didnt our test specialist struggle in overseas

Didnt kohli score around an avg of 70 in Sa,Nz & Aus which many legend dnt even possess

Didnt the Odi specialist Dhawan score heavily in NZ , where Vijay failed

 

All this winning after few innings has to stop, Players will fail somewere or other. This has happened to our legends to. Someone like Pujara Excel at home conditions becoz he plays a lot domestic cricket side by side due to not being selected for Odi. Someone like Kohli, rahane is terrific in overseas coz they travel a lot n regularly so they have become use to those pitches really quickly.
