Trichromatic Posted October 11, 2016 Posted October 11, 2016 It was yet another test series with no stand out performances from the visitors. Even in the losses, teams and players find a way to gain respect for themselves. Batting wise Williamson's performance was a big let down. Guptill doesn't look like test level opener and Roos Taylor seems to be performing only when he gets flat pitch. Except these 3 players - Neesham, Santner, Rochi, Latham batted well. They may not have numbers behind them, but watching them live, they rarely looked clueless against spin unlike Aussies and some other players. Maybe they needed a leader of the batting unit. This is where they will miss Maccullum. Bowling wise - they have decent spinners, but what was surprising to see was their pace attack. Boult has skills and swung the ball even when there wasn't much help. Wagner and Matt Henry bowled with full intent and plan and they rarely looked flat or not willing to contest. They were always running in hard and trying to contribute. IMO this is a strong unit and will challenge many teams with their bowling. They need to find a better opener and more contribution from senior batsmen. Mosher, sandeep, tweaker and 1 other 4
sandeep Posted October 11, 2016 Posted October 11, 2016 Guppy is the Kiwi Rohit Sharma, unfortunately for them, he's at the top of the order where his failures are both more noticeable and harsher for the team to bear. Supposedly there's some Indian kid opener coming through the ranks, but I think with the slim pickings they have, they will probably persist with him for a while.
cowboysfan Posted October 11, 2016 Posted October 11, 2016 just watched the highlights, that was utter capitulation and terrible way to make sure you end the game on day 4.Bring on England,it will be a dog fight and a great series.

-Robin- Posted October 12, 2016 Posted October 12, 2016 I can see india destroying Eng in similar fashion. I dont think any team can challenge india right now in Subcontinent.

They never dropped their heads before last day and even though they were being dominated consistently, they rarely looked like being uninterested on the field. sandeep 1
G_B_ Posted October 12, 2016 Posted October 12, 2016 I am afraid they just lack the talent to play in the sub.... Keep in mind they are a nation of 4 million with rugby as their main sport. There will always be a limit to what they can achieve in cricket.
gattaca Posted October 12, 2016 Posted October 12, 2016 I hope we run through the English side and whitewash them as well. Last I expected them to win in 2012. What a disappointing series it was. We weren't prepared at that time. Let's whitewash them this time. The only concern is cook and Anderson. If we don't throw away our wickets to the spinner we should be doing ok. sandeep 1
