^what's yours? In which world was the word "Pak**or Pak*" not a racist term?

dude if some one calls me hind or indi i wont find it racist, cause i am from India and i feel good about it. How can pak or Pakistani be racist honestly.

when an Indian/bengali/afgan/ srilankan/tamil calls a pakistani as pakistani its not racist. since both of them belong to the same race. It merely refers to the nationality. Lets not be too self critical here, but understand the need for decorum and not to use the term for it to be mistaken as a racist slur.

No offence dude but you and I being called indi or hind is not racist cause it's not a slang term nor is it derogatory. But someone calling us or any of our brownie neighbours P@ki is definitely racist. Malcom Marlyn knows what he is talking about, trust me. Ever called a black guy the N word? The word P@ki for UK/NA = N word for black people. This should make more sense now I would assume ...

For UK, yes. Don't lump N/A into it : I've been in Canada/USA for nearly 30 years and i've heard the term Pakistani being used by Pakistanis themselves here (and by others towards them) with rarely anyone getting offended, especially in Canada.

If you are not a Pakistani and are called that, then I can understand that it is derogatory. But if you are one, then why is it considered derogatory? That seems similar to me to calling a Punjabi as Punju, Gujarati as Gujju, Malyali as Mallu, etc.

It is because Pakistanis are very gora-worshipping. The Brit 'goras' call them 'Pakistani' in  derogatory way, so now its derogatory for them. They don't know what it means to have pride in oneself and reclaim a word if it is fitting. Thats why we don't get offended when we are refferred as 'hindus', even though it has the same negative connotation as Pakistani from older white people and how we reclaimed the word 'injun' by stressing it is 'indian' and now, 99% of usage of the word 'injun' is gone, unless you have serious accents form the carribean (where they cannot say Indian easily and call us injuns anyways).

We are not afraid of a chucker who got hosed for 200+ runs without a wicket when he was forced to bowl with short sleeves.

Besides, Pakistani can come as tourists. We don't have a problem with that.

P word is used to racially abuse Pakistanis/Indians/BDeshis all of them. Now i calling you a Pki will be like one black calling other the N word.

And P word isnt racist in NA.In UK yes.

But in India hardly anyone will know about this.

Btw what is the fun of using a word that is used by British to make fun of even Indians?

I can guarantee you times have changed. I live in Canada and got my a$$ handed to be for jokingly saying that. No Pakistani likes being called the P words. I have seen a Pakistani calling each other the P word but it was between them. If you call a Bangladeshi the P word, they will hand your a$$ to you with double the fury. They especially hate being labeled as a P word. The lankans don't care much but they have their own P word.

Regardless let's move on from these discriminatory remarks. It's a cricket forum, not a political forum. I just wanted to point out to the person to quit calling the Pakistanis the P word cause a lot of them don't like being called that and we have a lot of them in this forum. Poking fun at each other is all cool and all but regarding these derogatory remarks, they deserve the same respect we give to each other.

Lemme see....do you think a Pakistani would be happy to be called a yankee ? No. So obviously SL and non-PAKs will take offence to be associated with Pakistan.

As i said, those who feel offended by the P-word in Canada are mostly new immigrants and people who have families in Britain. Because as i said, 90% of the Paks are not offended by it, especially those who came directly from Pakland and have been here a while.

I don't think you understand ... when Racist white/black/etc calls you a p@ki regardless of your nationality just because of your skin, it's racist. Me bring this out has less to do with the people of Pakistan and more to do with the derogatory remarks. You can bs as much as you like about N/A doesn't use that term, but it's out there and racist non desi peeps uses it. Now back to cricket discussion shall we?

^ I guess you like being called a P@ki since you don't find that word derogatory if a person is brown. Good for you then. Its foolish to defend such nonsense.  I guess we all have a bit of Trump in us eh?

why would a brown be called a Pakistani? We here call Pakistanis P@ki in short. It has nothing to do with being brown or black.

The word P@ki is not racist in India. The word P@ki is not racist in Pakistan. So when an Indian refers to Pakistanis as P@kis on a cricket message board, we must invoke the British definition of P@ki?

Sure we often use the word in a demeaning way to refer to the nationality of the people of Pakistan. But not the race. There is a reason why Pakistanis don't refer to Indians as P@kis, even when they want to offend- because in India and Pakistan this has nothing to do with race!

To govern interactions between Indians and Pakistanis on a cricket forum not by Indian and Pakistani standards, but by gora standards, is if anything more demeaning to the brown race.

Although I frequently use the word P@ki as a shortened version of Pakistani, in this case I was certainly using it in a mocking way against the nationality, and not the race. No inappropriate racial lines were crossed, unless you believe the white man's standard to be more applicable to interactions between people of Ind-Pak  than your our standards.

exactly.

As i said, most Brit-Pakistanis are totally Gora-worshipping.

What Goras do/refer to them as, is integral to their identities and 90% of Pakistanis who visit Indian forums are attention-seeking, Brit-Pakistanis who have the usual case of 'identity blues'.
