prinzo Posted December 21, 2016 Posted December 21, 2016 The question is : For how many tests has KK NAIR cemented his place in the team for with that brilliant triple century ? In my opinion he shown ability to stay in their for the long haul.

The triple century may have earned him a short term place in the test team but some of the qualities he displayed en route his 303 is what is promising. Ability to play a really long innings, score very quickly in a test match without taking too much risk, ability to place the ball superbly, having a solid basic game etc. are the factors that will keep him in the run. tweaker 1
sourab10forever Posted December 21, 2016 Posted December 21, 2016 Maybe one more game against Bangladesh that it. Rahane is the better bet.

Surely...Rahane is the better choice but there are other replace-able batsmen in this line-up. Opening with Parthiv and replacing the inconsistent Rahul with Nair can be an option which can be tried in India. Similar thing may happen if Vijay is carrying niggles and is inconsistent. urbestfriend Posted December 21, 2016 Posted December 21, 2016 No place for him if we are playing 5 bowlers, when Rahane comes back. But he will replace Rohit when playing 4 bowlers. Ankit_sharma03 1

Rahul is safer than Vijay I would say. Captain backs him big time. Will not be out unless injured. Parthiv can't open if he is keeping. Will be very tough to do both.

Vijay is anyway not fully fit and is having frequent back problems. Better to rest him and allow him to recover.

coffee_rules Posted December 21, 2016 Posted December 21, 2016 Kohli wants aggressive batsmen. So, KLR, KN are good in his view. In the post-match conf, he said KN will be a first-choice MO backup. I think he earned it. Both KLR and KN have the mental attitude to play big innings and hence when they click they play big. just like Kohli has been doing in 2016.
CG Posted December 21, 2016 Posted December 21, 2016 Karun nair looks like a very good player of spin and his range of shots is extraordinary as well has concentration.I would like to see how he plays the short ball and moving ball but he seems like a wonderkid. He should be in odi squad. Rahul complete half circle and came out successfully.... (he got a century in australia, a century in srilanka).....we dont even know if nair is capable of that or not......it's better to judge a player after they complete the full circle(i mean after playing in all conditions)....so for now.....rahul is ahead of nair..

All temporary measures Guptaji :) Rahul is very much our best prospect as an opener. Talking about the test vs Bangladesh or maybe one test vs Australia. We need to give some push a batter who can play such a long innings so quickly in a test without taking too much risk.

Gambit Posted December 21, 2016 Posted December 21, 2016 He actually looked circumspect against the short ball but cannot knock anyone who makes a triple. He will definitely play rest of the home season tests. However, making a triple doesn't mean he will average 50+ and become a legend. Chris Gayle has 2 300s but averages 42. Hashim Amla has a triple but his performance over the last 2 years has been poor.Long way to go for Nair.
