India ODI squad for England series with all this injuries and CT17 on the horizon

CT Is in England , so I guess Rahane will play and then we will hv 4 openers
in Rahul/dhawan/rahul/rahane...   Only rahul and rohit can play in the middle order.

This Might not happen but I do think Rohit at 4 will be great specially outside sub continent

This is the ideal team for now, but I would play K Pandya for Raina and another fast bowler for Axar. That should cover all the bases.

Last ct was also in eng. Get the myth out of ur head that its eng so their be a lot of swing. In odi eng pitches are as patta as anything. 

Rahane at top.......srsly the guy who doesnt even deserve to be bench is playing as an opener over rohit n rahul. 

 

Rohit in middle- why on earth would u change his position. If he n rahane bats equal no of balls rohit will score almost double runs. Rohit also has been more consistent than rahane. Why send rohit in middle when he was a big time failure 

 

Rohit n rahul at 4,5, what a waste ..... Best place in odi is to bat in top 3 and they both shud be at in top 3. 

 

Dhoni cant bat at 6 anymore. He needs to bat either 4 or 5

 

There cannot be a choice btw pandya n raina. To bizzare. Raina cant bowl 10 overs that to in eng. Wonder whats ur plan with this team to bowl 50 overs.

 

Sran has been away from game from injury, dont knw when will he return and wud he have enough fitness and match practice.

 

Jadeja/ mishra- there shud be no question for jadeja place. His record is brilliant in eng specially in last CT. Mishra is out n out liability.

Agree with what u say ..But How u will play rahul , rohit, dhawan, kohli IN top 3...U wont drop dhoni from 4 and rohit is ur Opener, so where wd Rahul Play? To me Dhoni at 5 is almost equal to Dhoni at 6.. 4 is Really different

I have been  crying myself  hoarse about introducing new-age big hitters in our LOI teams but our selectors cannot think beyond LOIs of 2013  and have been playing slower batters.

 

Looking at Ishan Kishan bat in the Ranji semi-finals ...... 86 off 61 balls with 6 sixes......hitting the ball powerfully as well as hitting big 6s  with ease...but still batting like a proper batsman and leaving off-stump deliveries and swaying away from bouncers.....it would be foolish not to introduce such batters in LOIs.

 

Batters like Pant, Kishan and Hooda coming in at No. 5 and No. 6...one of them opening even.....is the face-lift our LOI teams need.....  especially  T20Is.

 

But....would we get it  ??

Ok for me dhawan has to perform now or perish. Agree it wud be a bit unfair over him as he has done well in Odi and has been our best batsman in both ct2013 and 2015wc which speaks about his pressure handling skill . But offlately his weaknesses have been exposed and and its been increasing be it his leg side play, short pitch , in the chest bowling or even against off spin. Another issue he to like rohit takes a lot of time to get set and they both dont rotate much. Their failure in testing conditions likd nz n sa were also alarming. He has already lost his place in test and doesnt deserve a place in t20 to. He is neither an outstanding fielder like raina or jaddu nor does he he gives u overs like yuvraj, hooda or now even jadhav. So when he doesnt score he doesnt add anything. 

So for me im looking for a dashing opener who can damage really bad at top and make use of PP. So if dhawan fails now well rahul, rohit and kohli wud be my top 3. Best players need more balls and there are on 300 balls. Rahul will damage more if he opens and plays 130to 150 balls rather in middle facing 80 to 100 balls. He has the ability to score 200 to. Why wud i hide hime in middle. Rohit n dhawan are very cautious at starts which doesnt give us that extra chance. Both cant be same, neither do they rotate well like gambhir n sehwag. 

Rahul does give u an option at 4 incase dhawan does well or even if pant comes in does well at top. 

 

There is a lot of diff btw 5 nd 6. 

For 2019 we have to try a lot of permutation and combination at every positon apart from kohli. This side needs someone who can damage at top, middle and bottom. We have enough grafters. 

 

 

My lineup for CT2017, its to far away to comment as its just dec. Who thought in dec 2012 that rohit and dhawan will open, karthik will play at 4 in 2013CT. Its fun to make such lineups but to early to take decision. Things change damn fast. Same manish pandey who was a must after 100 is struggling for his place now. Injuries form can make all our current theories look nonsense by the time Ct2017 start.

They both shud get a chance in warmup games and one of them in t20s to. With odis m nt sure will selectors take that gamble. Unless dhawan cracks a bone, raina falls sick hearing bounce on the pitch

U just forget a left/Right combo at the the top.. I certainly do feel Rahul will be a better no. 4 will all those scoops and reverse sweeps...He will join the top order to bottom and can play like both... And u are too with playing all ur top batters at the top position. NO 4 or 6 require different skills and that position also needs a top batter... I agree Top players should be given more balls but not all of them.. If that was the case hussey or beven wd become mediocre batters ....Certainly NO. So we need 1 of our current lot of top players in the bottom half as well.

If you are not ok with Dhawan ( Which I disagree) u can play a dasher in Pant. If both are sluggish starter then dhawan can be told to be more Pro-active ..U just cant dismiss him without working on him... Bouncers n all are non issue in modern odi as the wickets are belters....

Its human tendency that when we decide to downgrade someone thing we find all the aspects (even those which are debatable)and pile it on him...Dhawan is a gud fielder and a left hander so he adds  ...

Left right combination helps but its not a written rule that u have to follow. Hayden n gilly were both leftie and they destroyed opp. 

In case of hussey bevan and even dhoni, their were many better batsman up above batting. Dhawan is not better than rahul in anyway .

Im ok with pant, as my main objective is having a blasting opener. 

Bouncer is not only his weakness, wht about off spin, sa came to india and bowled him in his chest and tied his scoring, what about tough wkts like sa n nz. These are not 1 problem these way ti many and ill add inconsistency. U can keep improving till the time a better players comes and takes place. Ultimately the bettter play will play and rahul is proving out to be. There is one more name nair who also deserves a shot. The guy has a 360 deg game and plays spin damn well. People are lining up for chance. 

Yes dhawan is a good fielder but not someone like jaddu or raina who adds excellence. My point with fielding was when he has to many issue with battting then what is he adding to this team

Quick start- No

Consitency - No

Oustanding fielding- No

Bowling - No

Runs in tough condition - No

 

This series should be the last chance for dhawan . Rahul, pant, kishen and even nair opens are coming up. Its high time perfom or perish. Hooda, nair, rahul, pandey, mandeep are also fighting for middle order so it not that there is a place there. He has already lost place in test and wud loose in t20, it is only going to get tough . He has to.now pile on runs no other way. 

 

Nobody can degrade someone till one gives a chance. Try degrading kohli , wont be possible . 

 

Its high time we get over being avg , when there are options we shud choose the best one. Avg players dont make gr8 team. Its team before individuals.
