After a long time Ashwin has gone back to the offstump line. This is what we want see ,even on flat wickets try to get wickets .

Hopefully he sticks to this positive line of attack .But if he goes back to that negative leg stump like , he deserves to be dropped.

And one of the most silly threads ever started on icf dies quickly in flames

Ayyo Anna you have been owned. Please eat crow.

As long as he bowls that attacking line and try to take wickets ,happy to eat humble pie lol

But he has to go a long way to prove the criticism wrong. Mishra took 5fer in his last innings for perspective.

We need spinners to regularly take wickets in the middle overs .He didn't for a long time , but did today ,but needs to continue this positive approach long term .

Ashwin is a big match player, picks important wkts at the right time.he'll be average on flat tracks without a gripping turf and sometimes he loses the plot once he gets hit but still his varieties can be handy.only bowler with and economy under 4 in that semi final against Australia in Sydney.

And that is a big issue for us in middle overs .

His negative leg stump line is too easy to negate and allows batsmen to ease in without any trouble.

Unless Ashwin is forced to shift his line to more 4th stump instead leg stump , he deserves to be dropped.

He was dropped from the test team ,worked on his game and came back strong. No reason he cannt do that in Odis .

Also a mystery spinner (Chinaman bowlers are so rare ) like Kuldeep will always better chances in Odis than a classical offspinner like Ashwin.

There is a big difference between not deserving a place in the team and being above average. Ashwin is an adequate ODI bowler. The job of the middle over bowlers is to bowl consistently & keep things tight. Which Ashwin with his less than 4.75 RPO does very well in today's ODI. If he was taking more wickets with the same economy rate, he'd be in modern ODI great category. But he isn't taking wickets, so he is an adequate ODI performer. But definitely doesnt deserve to be dropped.
