tweaker Posted January 25, 2017 Posted January 25, 2017 (edited) Selectors will select a India A team to play a 3 day game against Bangladesh before the test series. Who are the players who should be included in the A team. Edited January 28, 2017 by tweaker
tweaker Posted January 25, 2017 Author Posted January 25, 2017 Taking account of the selection so far ,this selector are averse to taking risks & are most probably happy to give chances to seniors players instead of youngsters express bowling 1
tweaker Posted January 25, 2017 Author Posted January 25, 2017 Ideally it would be great if selector give a chance to those players who has a realistic chance of playing for India in future Mosher 1
maniac Posted January 25, 2017 Posted January 25, 2017 Pant has to be tried as a keeper...rest don't see a lot of exciting fast bowling talent coming through...spinners get Kuldeep in ideally names I would like Kuldeep,Pant as keeper,Iyer,Pandya in a 3 day setting try out Nathu and Siraj or add Aaron to the mix. pretty much the names I am excited about. but pretty sure A team will be filled with crap though. Mosher, King Tendulkar and tweaker 3
maniac Posted January 25, 2017 Posted January 25, 2017 ^also to add Rohit if he is fit by them just as a warmup to get him ready

I would play Pant and my spinners would be Kuldeep and Nadeem. Would get in Thakur and Mohd. Siraj also. Would open with Pant and Mukund. Get in Hooda, Panchal Ishan Kishan or Navdeep Saini. tweaker 1
Mosher Posted January 25, 2017 Posted January 25, 2017 (edited) Kuldeep, Pant, Aaron, Siraj and Nathu should be there. No Vinay Kumar, Dinda please. Edited January 25, 2017 by Mosher express bowling and MCcricket 2

He is a wicket keeper and a long term prospect at that.Should bat in the middle order where he will be comfortable. King Tendulkar 1
express bowling Posted January 25, 2017 Posted January 25, 2017 (edited) A-teams are primarily for the development of players who can play for India in the future. Performances in the last Ranji season should NOT be the main factor for selection. Let's see if the selectors have a good talent-spotting eye or just follow last season's stats like lay-persons do. With that in mind, the team should be on this line -- 1) Mukund 2) Panchal 3) Rohit 4) Nair 5) Pant ( Wk ) 6) Kishan ( He is a future prospect and needs to be backed ) 7) Pandya 8) Gopal ( Gets in place of Nadeem as we are looking for a good leg-spinner who can bat too ) 9) Kuldeep 10) Nathu ( best pace prospect in India and needs to be backed, especially as he missed most of the Ranji season due to injury ) 11) Aaron ( Need to see whether the fastest bowler in the country can still bowl as accurately as he did in the last A tour ) Reserves -- Hedwarkar Hooda Nadeem ( has done well but we already have a good left-arm spinner in team india and need some good wrist spinners ) Shardul Edited January 25, 2017 by express bowling tweaker, Mosher, MK55 and 1 other 4

SUMO Posted January 25, 2017 Posted January 25, 2017 mukund panchal iyer rohit (c) hooda pant (wk) pandya gopal kuldeep nathu rajpoot reserves : prashant chopra, kishan, siraj, milind
tweaker Posted January 25, 2017 Author Posted January 25, 2017 Selector should bring promising left arm pacer into A side .Has Sran recovered from his injury express bowling 1
renjith Posted January 25, 2017 Posted January 25, 2017 I would like to see the few bowlers from nathu, ankit, aniket, chama, pandya, kuldeep, chahal and nadeem. siraj doesn't look like international material in the irani trophy match. batting wise players from mukund, herwadkar, prasanth chopra, iyer, hooda, panchal, pant, kishan, rahul singh, vijay shankar
sandeep Posted January 25, 2017 Posted January 25, 2017 Priyank Panchal getting a game is a good bet, based on the selectors' logic and precedents. I would love to see - Herwardkar, Mukund, Panchal, Shreyas Iyer, Pant, Kishan, Vijay Shankar, Hardik Pandya/ Shardul Thakur, Kuldeep, Chahal, Nadeem. But likely that the likes of Manish Pandey and a few more "senior" names will play instead. tweaker 1

Looking at the near future, I do not see him batting for India at no.3, 4 or 5 for next 2 years in thr test team as it will be locked for Pujara, Kohli and Rahane. He would most likely play at 7 in Indian team if Nair also gets a permanent no. 6 slot for next few series whenever we play 2 spinners. Coming at 7 would be too late. Yes, we can hope for him to do a Gilchrist but then we can also look to develop another keeper in Kishan who can replace Saha at 7 and make Pant as a the replacement opener. He can be developed as an opener. You never know it might work better for India. If Kishan is not suited, it can be always swapped later. It is a tough one and anything can happen down the line. No one is a permanent repalcement keeper yet.

If we are going with Pant, he's best suited @ #6. You want to put players in position that increases their chances to succeed - square pegs in round holes are unlikely to work.

Pant has opened in LOI's so he can surely adjust to the moving ball in test too, but then again, if if he likes middle order then should bat there but him getting a chance to bat at no.6 might not happen for a long time if Nair and Rahane continue to bat well for India.

With Jayant Yadav doing so well with the bat, we will continue to play 3 spinners. Kohli is interested in playing 5 bowlers anyway. That means, Pant will bat at No.6, if and when he gets in the test team. Mosher 1
