He has not been that good in T20s.

 

But in ODIs, my impression is that Shami generally bowls good balls and occasional real bad deliveries.

 

Agarkar bowled an equal mix of good and bad balls which is not the case with Shami

 

Also, we see many more good yorkers from Shami compared to Aggy

We all know Shami is gonna break down after 2 test matches max... I rather have him play 100% all the Champions trophy, Asia Cups, Wcups, Overseas bilateral ODIs, home ODIs vs Top 5 nations etc than a couple of test here and there

Tell me one pacer who is great...Bowling on Indian roads where average score in last 3 years has been 320 plus, how can you expect any bowler not to go for runs.. main thing is you should know how to pick up wickets..which he knows..

Shami did play 10  test matches on the trot before this injury       : )

Huge risk if he's picked for 3rd test. We are better of without him for this series. He can come and perform well but I rather not rush in the middle of the series when our bowlers are getting the momentum and he might disrupt that if he doesn't bowl well and breaks down. Could become a burden to the team in matter of few overs with that injury. 

 

I will keep him out for now. Yes he's our best bowler but this is huge risk when the series is on line and the guy has not played much barring an odd outing in Vijay Hazare.

No need for Shami in Ranchi. Coming back after injury he can't hit the straps straightaway and may disappoint. Umesh and Ishant are bowling well enough, those 2 should play.

He has done well on flat tracks in odis.remenber he changed the outlook of Indian attack after being drafted in odi series vs India in India where every bowlers was bring hammered

Our team management is in a better position to gauge whether Shami is fit for test matches.

 

We don't have sufficient facts to make an informed decision.

 

If he is fully fit physically.... no problems at all.... I would play him as he is a wicket taker in Indian conditions and Ishant is not.
