Now will Kohli do the honour of stepping down from RCB captaincy?

Has screw*d RCB for a no. of years with his captaincy. He should play just as a player and let maybe ABD captain.

While i believe Kohli should step down as the captain based on merit, ABD would be a terrible choice. He was a failure with the SA national team where Faf has proven himself to be head and shoulders above ABD as a captain.

RCB don't have a single player who's good captaincy material in their entire squad.

Baffling how a non performing captain over years is continuing as Captain. With Dhoni we at least won world cup. Virat is not capable to win even an IPL. Selects rubbish bowlers in squad of 22, whatever happens then is obvious. Should be sacked as Captain for next world cup. Team selection  is itself wrong.

You do realise Kohli is top dog in sponsorships/endorsements and advertisements? No matter how rubbish RCB are he will remain captain as he is Indian captain in all formats and one of the best batsmen in the world ( his captiancy is rubbish as we all no)

Gambhir had the freedom and liberty to step down and play for free as he is a nobody compared to Kohli in the media/business sense.

Yup, he's paid for being the poster boy for RCB as well as for being one of the best  batsman of this era. However, he has been making blunders auction after auction. As if selecting below average bowlers was not enough, he is playing the wrong 11. The problems start at resourcing level. When the basics have been wrongfully done, the struggle is bound to be more while getting performance from the playing 11. Cricket is a team game and in such a long tournament performance of team is going to matter than his brand value.

captain does not select squad. it is the coaches and team management that selected them.

Really. Virat Kohli has no say in team selection ?

In fact i would put a point forward that Virat even has a say in selection of RCB coach.  IMO  Virat  is determining whether Vettori can stay at that job rather than Vettori dictating terms as think tank.

He does have his say in selection of playing XI, but during IPL auction he was playing in SA.  Bowlers were selected by Nehra who was in the auction.

They do have video conference before selection n they do mark their players, obv u wnt get everyone

but u do mark ur options n their backups coz u follow a strategy

BTW, Kohli was in team when they asked for NCN replacement

Virat even decides whether Vetori will be coach of RCB or not.  Even Nehra's job is dependent on Virat's tick mark. Virat has more powers than anyone else in think tank.  Virat is the most powerful think tank member rather than others having more say than him. Only the RCB owner must be having highest power than Virat.

The strategies are not decided on table. The retention starts months before IPL auction. The other purchases during auction are planned well in advance with options like Preferred bowler, second preferred bowler, third preferred bowlers choices being determined well before auction. The pool of batsmen, bowlers and allroudners to be picked is well determined before the auction day.

Vettori was ex-RCb. So probably got preferred. Like Virat wanted Shastri as his puppet, he is preferring Dan for RCB.

Vettori as Indian coach !!

Only if it was as planned as you are talking about.  Teams who plan don't pick such inexperienced bowlers in Siraj who was horrible when he played for India, Khejroliya a rookie, Saini, and Aniket who have barely played any high pressure T20 cricket. if there was any plan, they would have picked likes of Chahar and Khaleel two top wickets takers of SMA trophy or Prasidh Krishna who did well for SMA champions Karnataka.  and yes, they do make list of players but auction dont always go according to plan and we dont know whether Kohli was involved in that process or not.  We can for sure blame Kohli for selection of playing XI and on-field decisions but whole squad is mostly picked by coaches and management.
