cowboysfan
I will keep Ishant around but there is no reason for him to play this series unless Zak gets injured, the alternative for Ishant doesnt fill me with confidence. Link to comment
PaceAttack
India is not blessed with so many fast bowlers to waste a talent like Ishant. I just hope he becomes as good as he used to be in the past. what a sight when he troubled the Aussies , esp. Ponting. Link to comment

Trichromatic
The problem with armchair indian cricket fans is that they expect everyone to be a star from day one, and have no sense of player development. It took time for the likes of Steyn and others to hit their peak, there were times where they looked very ordinary as well. Are you kidding? Ishant Sharma has been around for how long exactly? That's right.......FIVE YEARS. Averages 37. Failed in England. Failed in India. Failed in Australia. Failed in South Africa. Move on. Butttt he was carrying ankle injury and was unlucky' date=' look at his capabilities from some select spells :--D[/quote'] Somewhere I mentioned that Ishant has already played almost same or more number of matches as Shoaib, Saqlain, McGill, Prasanna, Mankad played in their entire career. Fast generally play 60-80 matches in their career if they are successful. But for Ishant 45-46 matches is just the start. Lol, Steyn didn't take so many matches to improve and he wasn't playing international cricket when it became clear that he isn't that good for international level. He worked on his bowling and then returned back. Link to comment

rkt.india
That's because he's gotten so many games for doing nothing. 133 wickets at 37.87. That's the harsh truth. How many fast bowlers have taken 133 wickets for India in tests? Most of them cannot even survive injuries in first place to play that long. Link to comment
Ultimate_Game
I have high hopes from Ishant. You can mark my words that he will spearhead our attack in 2015 WC in Aus. Link to comment

mastana
I still rate Ishant. He is still young. He will come good' date=' he will get better and better[/quote'] bhai tu toh kisi ko rate kar hi mat kuch time tak. Aajkal tere din bure chal rahe hai. Badrinath, rohit sharma sab ko rate kiya tha aur aaj kya haal hai dono ka. Just hate Ishant like u hate irfan pathan. :yay: Link to comment
Crookbond
KT no, please don't "rate" Ishant. Please "hate" Ishant. Link to comment
putrevus
What is worrying about Ishant is all three tours SA, England and Australia were played on pitches with lot of help to fast bowling as Ganguly put it they were greentops and yet our ASSet failed spectacularly. If this is the asset we are banking on then we might as well stop playing fast bowlers and go with all out spin attack. Link to comment

rkt.india
You must rate Danish Kaneria highly. Is Harbhajan one of your favs too ? Harbhajan is an Indian great. He may not be in great form off late, but you gotta give him that respect. He has taken 400 wickets in tests. After all, how many Indians have done that. Link to comment
saneindian
Just for comparison Zaheer Khan after 45 tests had 131 wickets@36. Will be interesting to see if Ishant, like Zaheer, can turn it around and become a successful test bowler in the future. Link to comment

Recent record/performances have a much bigger role, else we'd never move beyond our star performers. Link to comment

Unless we find someone who's actually better than Ishant, he will continue to get chances and that's how it should be. Link to comment
