I will blame 20 percent on lack of indian money. They have failed to create a system which rewards true performance and age based cricket . Random plucking of some street fast bowlers is not working anymore as world is used to pace . Lack of reverse swing is another killer . Their batsmen were always subpar - they haven’t produced a Dravid level player leave alone a Tendulkar or a Gavaskar. Final blow is by their own politics and consistency . No coach gets a clear tenure . Board run by politicians . for those who don’t know , prior to 1983 , cricket in India was very similar . We didn’t cheat on reverse swing but boards were basically run on nepotism etc . Pak is still in that era. their national gdp is also on decline . This also has an effect on all their sports. They used to be a good hockey team but now routinely loose to India .

Being rich gets u get - infrastructure support , dietary support sustained support from environment access To modern training methods . Pak is actually a v v good example . Their poor gdp prevents them from spending more on their junior and club cricket . They don’t have a centre of excellence . Afghan team is not gonna top the charts and remains dependent on indian infrastructure. They developed once they started training in india and playing in IPL . New Zealand is an example of how gdp gets u good players . They have good stadiums . Coaches and in general , their average New Zealand is taller , fitter and better at sports than an avg subcontinental player . India has now started having taller fast bowlers - not a coincidence . Avg height in India is increasing with gdp growth . I grew up in mumbai . I was a decent leg spinner - I bowled at Shivaji park and then a bit for my college Xavier’s . No coaches . Learnt to bowl looking at tv . Post 12th grade , I had to decide to make cricket a career or get into academics . Chose latter as we were dirt poor . Today I have enrolled my son and daughter into cricket and tennis . I have lived both worlds. I have seen both sides . It’s not possible to become class an athlete if u get basic meals in a kitchen in a chawl . My kids have access to amazing clubs , pool , food and coaches . And I am only middle class in usa

GDP is proportional to success in sports . Pak poor economy is now catching up in sports last 15 years . If I were their board , I would bring in a ceo from outside to run their cricket - a- create a 10 year framework starting at under 12 . B- develop injury and workload mgt for all age groups starting with under 12 c - have 5 grounds with excellent facilities d - support 6 good domestic teams with good salary , infra and coaches . Pak system of plucking talent like Akram , past history of age fudging , ball tampering , illegal actions is no longer working . Add the army interference and lack of continuity with ex players almost creating rifts in team is not helping their cause.

Bumrah is the no 1 choice. in 2003 World Cup , bowlers who can swing and seam at pace - nehra were very effective and Srinath - nehra - zaheer were superb until finals . Then Zaheer lost his marbles .. I would take Siraj as he has pace , swing , seam and attitude as my second choice . then gurnoor as my third choice as he has bounce and pace and can bat a little. Harshit as my no 4 . arshdeep as backup for Siraj prasiddh as backup for gurnoor - or harshit ( prasiddh is improving each game but I prefer gurnoor ) Allrounders - Pandya is no 1 choice . Dube , patel and sundar along with Pandya , reddy are the top 5 guys . There are two or three more all rounders in domestics - patel who had a great 50 knock in IPL and Arshin kulkarni are dark horses besides lord Thakur . I am excited . Tho’s stock of fast bowling and all rounder reserves in unprecedented worry will be batting. Rohit should be replaced by jaiswal. And sanju needs to be in . Kishan too . For now looks like Rohit backup is jaiswal kohli back up is Kishan rahul backup is Samson .

Different grounds , different shots needed. Sky is missed. I need a 360 degree player in England . Sky was a chill guy , chill captain but u guys forget that he played selfless and he was reliable . His style of batting suited fast pitches - Australia, uk he would have scored more and in my opinion , on South African pitches his batting would be very useful for middle order. Ruturaj is the most selfish cricketer I have seen along with Manjrekar . He should be away from every indian side barring test match . Even then I don’t think he can be a choice . Gill , the right handed batsman was missed as much as the captain . The of spinner got easy targets with a left handed lineup . second test , s khan should have been called up . His batting , six hitting ability is important . In t20 any bowler can go for sixes . Rana will improve . Come icc tournaments , he will be a backup to Pandya - dube , reddy and Rana being groomed by gambhir . It’s a positive thing to see new players getting chances .

I think we will win against Lanka . Most of our current test batsmen are v good players of spin and with sundar , jadeja , kuldeep and axar , as well as shorter test series , India will be ok . Hoping they play s Ayer or s khan as both are excellent players of spin Australia visiting us will be close , but again with a plethora of all rounders and wrist spinners , India will be firm favorites. proteas are wtc champions and imo got a very strong batting unit . Maharaja will be neutralized by India left handers. Not much of a threat but will be closely fought the India New Zealand away series is where we gonna have issues need bum , reddy fit and also krishna and harshit kind of tall Bowlers to get purchase in New Zealand.

I think they will go with Arshdeep if fit or with prasiddh thakur is a very good cricketer but for this match , they should go with genuine bowlers I don’t like prasiddh , but he does bowl with some pace and maybe this pitch will suit him . if not than call rana or get Shami back .

Management has to have faith in Jadeja and sundar as specialist batters after the centuries . Jurel needs to bat at number 5 with Jadeja at 6 and sundar at 7 . Kuldeep is a decent no 8 and Arshdeep and akash deep can bat a bit . Only siraj can’t bat but I think having him as seam leader and using him in bursts is best. people who know how to take wickets - akashdeep arshdeep yadav sundar Siraj above 5 make a threatening attack imo . Different angles , seam , swing , dip , fast offspin . English batsmen are not as good as say Australian batsmen . This attack will win u any Match in uk .

Ayer has to be in top 5 can rotate strike can catch well and can hit fast bowlers. Imo he is as much a match winner as pant. I care a damn about Karun etc. the way we have won tests last 4 years has been - allrounders batting 3 fast bowlers on song couple of magical attackers - pant / rohit going all out on opposition . Very few tall bowlers like prasiddh - bcci thinks he can develop with time . now how much time ? I have seen enuf of this guy to think he needs lots of first class experience to price out wickets - A- tall hot deck but below 143-144 k - those are hit me Balls B- needs to be accurate when slightly slow at 138 like mcgrath . This guy pitch map is so different each game c - needs to crank up pace with tailenders , bowl Yorkers . Chooses to bowl slower ones in tests against tail . overall , he is about two solid seasons behind for test cricket . he is likelly going to be used as a 4-5 th bowler in sena going forward whilst Arshdeep will be developed ( as ars has height , decent pace , left arm and only issue is long spells from what I hear - saw an interview of Arshdeep where he spoke of his relative inexperience in long formats ) harshit too is being kept an eye on . Trust the domestic system - several pacers upcoming including the u19 guy from Maharashtra ( wants to be Jacques kalllis like all rounder )
