sandeep Posted April 27, 2017 Posted April 27, 2017 ICC mandated commitments for international games and series. Resist and reduce the required international ODI and T20 games to an absolute minimum. A 3 game ODI series every 3 or 4 years against each of the countries - subject to government approval for away tours. That's about a dozen ODIs per year. That leaves us another dozen games - about 4 3 game series to use as bargaining chips in our transactions with the other countries. IPL Expansion. Step 1. Expand the IPL to 10 teams next year, get to 12 teams as quickly as possible in a proper organized fashion. Expand the IPL window in the annual cricket calendar from April-May to February-May. This will more than make up for the revenue that the ICC has stolen, and will have the bonus effect of reducing the chachunder Phateechar Satta leeg to its rightful pathetic level. Step 2. Organize a mini-IPL for a few weeks in the July-Aug-September timeframe. A traveling Carnival of the world's top cricketers playing in Florida, Toronto, NY, California and Texas. This will compete directly with the ECB's new startup and ensure that quality is the same as British food - tasteless and without any fans. Throw in collaborations with other partner leagues if we have to - CPL is half owned by Indians anyway. The South Africans can be offered a role, only if they decide to work with us and not against us. The timeframe and location of the IPL Carnival of cricket can be shifted to target other 'enemy' leagues such as Big Bash, or the new CSA league as well. Step 3. Add a Columbo franchise to the IPL as part of the expansion to 16 teams. Ensuring non-Indian stake-holders in the primacy of the IPL, as well as rewarding loyal supporters of Indian cricket -provide them an opportunity to field a team with 7 Lankans and 4 foreigners, giving them the benefit of top competition for their younger players. Dhaka could have been part of this, but given their back-stabbing act recently, this will not be on the table. Step 4. Add a Dubai Franchise to the IPL, given the paucity of homegrown talent - let them field the usual 4 foreign stars and up to 3 stars from non UAE associates. Step 5. Eventually replace the August 'Mini-IPL' with a Champions League tournament, where the top teams of the IPL will compete against franchise teams from countries that don't phuck with us at the ICC level. 1yroy, AuxiliA, Manny_Pacquiao and 1 other 4
kubrickian Posted April 27, 2017 Posted April 27, 2017 (edited) Dont waste resources to promote cricket in Zimbabwe or West Indies because even their boards dont care about anything other than making a quick buck. Better invest in countries like Afghanistan if their board is interested in good relations with BCCI and serious about improving cricket. Too much IPL will become overkill. By all means, expand IPL and make it better and even more competitive but not so much that it becomes annoying. Too much of T20 cricket (or any cricket for that matter) will become boring. 3 months with games only during weekends is doable. Anything longer is not advisable as of now. Negotiate to get more share in revenue. 450 million dollars should be good enough as of now. BCCI will continue to be the biggest player in world cricket even if they lose some money now. What's not required is knee jerk reactions like pulling out of ICC. That would be isolating themselves and shooting themselves in the foot. Need to convince other boards that they can be more profitable by ensuring BCCI gets its rightful share than by robbing its revenue because money is the only language they understand. BCCI still needs other boards to vote in its favor in ICC decisions. Edited April 27, 2017 by kubrickian

Vilander Posted April 27, 2017 Posted April 27, 2017 Invest in Afganistan and Nepal. US+ Toronto ofcourse is the way to go for the mini carnival IPL league. And yes IPL team for SL is a must, colombo. SA has a good player base and have near shore ability with India so its good to invest in them.and collaborate. WI islands must be treated as a development territory for the carnival league in Americas. its possible, may be this is just he project for... drumrolls...

sscomp32 Posted April 28, 2017 Posted April 28, 2017 (edited) On topic : Give Srini free hand and see how ICC become BCCI Slave. There is a reason white people like Giles clarke fear him. They know he will kill them. They used the age old strategy of "cant beat them, join them " and then backstabbed him as soon as he got weak thanks to SC. Silva Posted April 28, 2017 Posted April 28, 2017 (edited) Regarding the IPL expansion, if you really think about if the IPL were to expand to 6+ months the franchises will become very powerful and they might start calling the shots and that could shift the balance of power in India away from the state associations and the BCCI obviously wouldn't want that. I honestly don't understand why else the IPL hasn't expanded much in 10 years despite being such massive cash cow for BCCI. Edited April 28, 2017 by Silva
rtmohanlal Posted April 28, 2017 Posted April 28, 2017 i think BCCI needs to split from the ICC at first. Then function as a free body and try to conduct rebel series (tests, one dayers & t20s) by getting elevens from all ICC member countries.Sure, if not getting international players is possible firstly , it would atleast be possible to get first class cricketers from other countries who would be be atleast on 2nd level to international players. For such matches BCCI would surely get sponsers because INDIAN team is playing. Paying huge amounts to rebel foreign players will tempt even international players to such rebel matches(take Devillliers for eg:).Just count these matches as international matches. The only difference is that such matches will not get ICC approval. Isn't it?Who cares , if INDIAN team is playing and the stats of players involved are taken into account just like usual international matches? Then BCCI will get sponsers as usuul .If BCCI currently generates 80% of ICC income thru INDIAN spectators & gets only a small share of that as of now that situation will entirely be turned upside down if BCCI functions as a free body.ICC would then become much weaker,BCCI backstabber countries would be seriously affected,INDIA can play quality matches in all formats with rebel players of all countries they prefer. The only difference would be that these matches would not come under the ICC official status label. But then , if all other things are in place just as usual ,who cares for merely a label? IPL did not expand because of corruption, in 2018 when CSK and RR come back there is organic expansion right then and there. A oclombo based club is definite feasibility, imagine a chennai vs colombo will be classic..

Anything more for another 5 years, would be too many.
Khota Posted May 4, 2017 Posted May 4, 2017 Need to find a way to stop Indian money going to ICC. Empire has no shame.

Close to 60 games within 2 months is too much already IMO. Further expansion will eat into international cricket which Indians still watch closely. Love for cricket for Indians started from World Cup, bilateral ODIs and not from test cricket or T20s and those fans still give more importance to international games than league cricket which they take it as a time pass. Perhaps the new generation and the future ones will be more into league cricket but only time will tell. If IPL develops more regional rivalry, then it could attain more importance. Also have to invest in state cricket to produce better local players who can keep the league going when international stars may be busy playing other forms of cricket or take a break to avoid injuries.
Khota Posted May 4, 2017 Posted May 4, 2017 I think the IPL should be atleast 3 months now. Need to quit playing BD. They have really backstabbed India.

Khota Posted May 5, 2017 Posted May 5, 2017 The key is to get one team in SL and another in two in Middle East. This may involve having Pakistani players but so be it. The front end of IPL can start overlapping back end of PSL. Empires T20 would be a big F. SA T20 another F. These losers will wait for Indian crumbs but there wont be any to give them. BD needs to be taught a lesson.
