"How many of us still believe that MSD is the best wicketkeeper in the world?"

When MSK Prasad, India's chairman of selectors, asked for a show of hands in response to that question, about three to four hands went up out of 25-odd people.

Maybe ICF members. Because you know according to some Dhoni is criticised or not rated much(currently) exclusively only on ICF.

How frequent do you see dhoni diving to sides to take a catch or stop a wide. Not very frequent. Throughout the career he has been like this. Pant even in short glimpse that we have of him in this IPL has been diving, jumping, taking some screamers. Same with Saha in tests. Dhoni is a champion of stumpings but stumping is not all that is to keeping. There is merit to allegations of not going for tough chances.People have noticed thi s throughout his career. Still he is an upgrade over Parthiv, karthik, Utthapa etc.

Soryy, But our bowling attack dont give those chances either. Its only now , we see so many pacers knocking the door. It is about time we find a replacement which is Dhoni ++. Current replacement list in limited over format are not evn Dhoni

Don't you guys read ? Pant will not play even if he is picked for the squad.

In future tour, Pant and Kuldeep are meant to play for India LOI squad.

They won't play because it is poor planning. They could have easily tried these new guys vs nz and England. msk prasad is a bad selector similar to Srikanth.

Well I haven't seen Dhoni let catches go because he doesn't want to jump.  He's been quite a dilligent keeper in he takes whatever comes to his direction.  Dhoni's gloves are one of the safest in the game - I've never seen him drop a catch in quite some time.  Dhoni is a master of stumpings and run out but I haven't seen many missed catches from him.  Also,   a keeper may get 3-4 catches in a game to the max however keeping against the spinners for 20 overs in an ODI atleast for India - Dhoni has the ability to create chances out of nothing - some stumping chances are purely created by the Keeper rather than the Batsman walking down .

Pant is the future but he isn't the present.  He needs a lot more international exposure before he can fully replace Dhoni.

Ready made replacements don't happen. Pant is safe enough keeper to start playing in the eleven.Dhoni was himself average keeper when he started playing regularly for India.

I think after the CT def Pant can start sharing duties but it would be unfair for India or Pant to start him in the CT

Fair enough. Hope it turns out that way regardless of us winning the trophy or not. But why share duties? Pant should be keeper. Dhoni should be out of team unless he shows with his BATTING that he is good enough as a pure batsman in the team.No captaincy inputs bullsheet.

Transition doesn't happen overnight -  Dhoni with his age would play selectively only .   So Pant can definitely start taking over as the wk/batsman in lesser series and Dhoni to play selectively.   Pant deiniftely isn't a better wk than Dhoni as well so it will not happen overnight.

Also Pant needs to fight this spot with Saha  -  This isn't a given for Pant

Agree. If none these players get picked for next ODI series, Sack the selector or Kohli should grow some balls and drops the oldies for young guns. Kohli should force selectors to pick young batsmen.
