Pakistan hold over Srilanka in ICC tournaments

Pakistan has some serious mental hold over Srilanka when it comes to ICC tournaments.Srilanka record against Pakistan is nearly as awful as Pakistan's versus India .

Srl have lost 10 of their 11 matches in these tournaments against Pakistan.

The only win was in 2002 CT at home.

They almost lost the match today. 

 

SL have been awful too. The last 2 years haven't been anything to be proud about. So, this win was likely.

 

Makes India look stupid, for having lost to this SL team.

i was minimally happy that SL turned the corner in india game, but todays game ment they still suck.

It was SL match until Thisara dropped catch of Sarfraz of Malinga.

Malinga had two drop in his over and he was fed up  He even gave up in the end.

They were doing good with ball and fielding until Thisara dropped the catch, later they started to panic and eventually lost.

felt bad for Malinga poor guy, still got it towards the end of his career but not supported in the field.

More or less this was the last ICC event match for malinga. Maybe Even Last ODI who knows.

Who cares? Any match with SL is boring. I wouldnt even take money to watch Pakistan vs SL or India vs SL even if its World Cup Final.

Sri lanka did beat pakistan in the WT20 2012 semi final which was an ICC event but they are chokers vs Pakistan

We also don't have SL captain and fans also giving interview before each match on how this time they will break the jinx

I think SL did quite well , with 2 of their current top players sitting out with injury , totally inexperienced side they still nearly won the game. 

Beat India and barely lost to Pak

And by all rights took a self-inflicted loss against SA as well.  When you have almost 40 overs left to score about 200 runs and 8 wickets in hand, crumbling to a 100 run loss is quite poor.  

 

Essentially SL and NZ batting units were the most fragile in the tourney - take a couple of key wickets and the rest won't do much.   Even Bangles have outdone those two, and obviously Pakistan as well.  England and India have been the best batting units so far.   

 

Hypothetically, I would have loved an India England semi-final, and a Pak-Bangles semi.   I think Bangles would cane the current greenbro team.  And India would get tested properly by the in-form and well constructed pommie team.   Winner of that clash would win the trophy.
