renjith Posted June 25, 2017 Posted June 25, 2017 jadeja is a far better bowler than krunal. we will only be adding to our problems by replacing jadeja with krunal. if jedeja is to be replaced, it has to be with a better bowler than jadeja. as of now chahal and kuldeep are the front runners for replacing jadeja and ashwin.

Jadeja accuracy makes him potent at test level ,in modern odis on flat pitch finger spinners need variety to survive.

Krunal is a proper No.6 or No.7 ODI batsman. If we play Hardik and Krunal together, batting at No.6 and no.7..... that means we can play 4 other proper bowlers These 4 proper bowlers could be 2 pacers and 2 spinners OR 3 pacers and 1 spinner based on the pitch. We are not compromising on the bowling by bringing in Krunal; but creating ( 4+2 ) or ( 3+3) =6 bowling options while maintaining the 7 batting options we have now. Why can't he be given more oppertunities at NO:6 & utilised his 'bowling based on conditions' ?? We must not forget that he is a quality test bowler, a useful lower order test batsman, a brilliant fielder & to project his case a genuine all rounder in first class cricket. Can't find lot of all rounders in any first class cricket who avg:s 44+ with the bat and 23 with the ball. For me , he only lags is in one day bowling. i would blame the management rather than him for not properly utilising such a player with a wonderful career record. Advantage of having 4 pure bowlers is that you can use them till half way mark ( with may be just 2 overs form fifth bowler) to create pressure. Then opposition team will have to take more risk to up the ante in the remianing overs . There will be phases of play where wickets go down and you quickly slip in few overs of 5th bowler . Krunal even in IPL has a RR less than 7 and bowls accurately around 95-100 KPh . Also changes pace. So no easy runs on a platter . Really worth a try . express bowling and Unstable Joe 2

ODIs have changed nowadays and batsmen coming in at no.6 and No.7 need to be very high SR batters... with SRs in excess of 100 and preferably 110+. ( Our current No.6 and no.7 have SRs of 122 and 141 ) A " batsman " like Jadeja with a SR of 85 does not cut it as a lower-middle order batsman these days. Moreover, there are so many better hitters than Jadeja nowadays.... there is no sense in playing him at No.6. New guys like Pant will bat at a very high SR too. He has been demoted from No.7 to No.8 by our team in the last 15 months and that will tell you the story..... he is being considered as a pure bowler and he is not delivering. Unstable Joe 1

I just filtered out his 30+ inns in one dayers... he has 22 such inns where he remained not out on 12 occasions. He has such scores every where. Means... if properly utilised at 6 or even 5 he would be able to contribute even more with the bat.12 not outs in 22 inns means , if he settles in he can play long innings. And his 85 str: rate is good enough for a 5th position it seems. I don't think any team baring one or may be two teams at the moment has a no:5 who avg:es 32 @85 and 35 with the ball, i mean both batting & bowling combined.Any why ... just my thoughts Edited June 25, 2017 by rtmohanlal

express bowling Posted June 25, 2017 Posted June 25, 2017 (edited) The main issue is....how will our team management know whether yougsters like Pant, Krunal, Shankar, Nathu, Siraj etc. are international quality unless we try them in bilateral LOI series ? How will we develop them unless they get a few games on the trot ? We saw the difference in approach between a fearless youth, Pandya, and a bunch of experienced guys. Hence ,if he has regressed off late, a lot of the blame has to go to the team management .On a side note....it still disappoints me as to how the Indian management destroyed almost a certified ATG batsman like Sehwag .All these crores & crores of money, analysts, computer technology etc etc..yet these people do not have even the common sense to bat first in big final against an opposition like PAK being well aware of the scoreboard pressure such a match situation can create.Unfortunately that is what they are..

Rest all players imo should be able to get into the team either as a genuine batsman or bowler. Krunal can take the place of hardik if it's a spin bowling pitch but not jadeja or kedar jadav imo. Tibarn Posted June 25, 2017 Posted June 25, 2017 Krunal has some big innings in IPL. I don't know how long an innings he can play in 50 overs though. To actually see how good he is, we would need to let him bat somewhere in the middle order during these bilateral series.

H Pandya has probably been one of Indias better batsman, and maybe the only one that can hit big from ball one. The only player that can't bowl or bat is jadeja. His lower batting is useless and his bowling numbers aren't much better than Yuvraj Singhs. I like kedar jhadav but the team doesn't really need a proper long innings specialist type batsman at number 6. Throughout the whole champions trophy He was only needed once and even then the match was practically over by the time he got into the middle. Its better to have a big hitter at that position. Even if krunal is slightly inferior to kedar as a batsmen, we can still assume that no 6 batman does not have to play a long innings in most cases as silva mentioned. Bowling wise he defenitely does not look like someone who can complete 10 overs in loi and is a defenite no as a 5th bowler especially when hardik is the 4th bowler. As that will leave 20 high risk overs. But should fine as a 6th bowler. Edited June 26, 2017 by renjith

He may not be big turner of the ball but is a thinking bowler. He is somewhere between a part timer and a specialist bowler. Kedar has been unfortunately wasted due to Yuvraj and dhoni hanging on like leeches. He is a perfect no 4 batsman. Laaloo, express bowling, Pollack and 2 others 5
