it takes time to achieve full fitness to play ranji trophy games. He will be playing for UP and not Mumbai and UP is struggling with batting. He would have been picked easily if he was ready for FC cricket yet.

Rishabh Pant 72 from 72 balls, 7 fours and 4 sixes. This guys seems to have only one gear. Must be used as opener at least in T20s even if he was going through bad patch recetnly.

its a little too late for him , I liked the trio of KL , Mandeep and Mayank back when they played u-19 for India and IIRC the only three big positives in that team . Only KL showed continuous improvement , the other two have been very inconsistent . Then , he should be a great asset for any IPL team , surprised hes failed in T20s .

Prithvi Shaw adds another 100. We have had these kind of breakout season coming in from Nair, Rahul, Iyer, Pant, Jadhav in last few years. Current approach seems to be getting them in some A tours and test them out if they sustain this quality at higher level. 

 

Lets see how fast Shaw moves up the ladder.

cmon man he is just 26,he can make  a good career for himself in limited overs but he needs a breakthrough ipl season as well,as you said he has been inconsistent and lacks the hunger somehow

Hes an opener and there are too many inline for that spot , he may get one shot at some point but the way it works these days if he does not get a 100 or a 50 in 2 - 3 matches he will be discarded for ever .

Almost all the batting hopefuls / talents had a good day today baring Iyer. But there's no one aged enough to hang up his boots in the test squad. Pujara , Kohli and Rahane are sure picks almost for next 3 years. Openers slot would rotate amongst themselves. 5 bowler strategy by Kohli means 6th batsman would be Rohit, Nair for some more time. Tough times for slotting in similar to fab5 times.
