After a great Ranji season last year, Panchal has started with a bang with centuries in both innings in the 1st Duleep trophy match.

 

If he plays well in the next matches he has good chance to be the reserve opener for the next series

Pachal has better chance as he is an opener. It will be hard to break into test middle order.

Hasn't earned it.  He needs to put his head down and score big runs.  Enough of the flashy cameos - consistent big runs is how a batsman breaks into the national team.

Agreed, but he's another bat who's best suited for the top 3.   The money making slots. We already have Rohit, Dhawan, Kohli and Pandey in the team who fit that role.  And KL Rahul ready to go.

Why is it V/s they are not even competing for a same spot

A lot wud depend on the need of the team as well, the way our fragile openers keep getting injured panchal wud be in line always after dhawan n mukund may be 

For iyer also, If rohit gets injured and since kohli wasnt impressed with nair acc to reports he wud be in line incase rohit gets injured 

 

 

So their chances wud depend on some injuries as well .
