Tullaybaaz do seem to have more value in this age compared to yesteryears ,but tullaybaazi today requires a lot more work and intelligence than mere swinging too.

I don't see any consistency in Shami yet, yes he had moments but he has not shown he can lead this attack consistently even for couple of years , injuries have not helped.

 

I still think Umesh has better weapons but still has not figured out how to be consistent.

Now going back to Shami. This guy seemed to be the right replacement of Zaheer Khan. Where do you think his career is headed now?

Shami has had way too many injuries in his short career and that has not helped him.Also he does not have the advantage of being a left armer ,so Zaheer and he has little to no simillarity,in the first place.

 

But i don't think he has degraded ,infact he is quicker now than he was before injury ,consistently bowling well into 147-148 in IPL and even in tests in limited oppurtunies he has had.

He just hasn't had oppurtunities due to rise of bumrah and bhuvi in the meantime he was injured and thats not his fault.As far as tests are concerned,he bowled terrificly even in his last test.He is the first choice test bowler for India with Yadaav, so all this where his career is going doesn't any make sense.

He will end up as one of our best bowlers,if injuries stay away.

Umesh has weapons but he looses focus easily but has improved in the last year or so,shami is more consistent and will only get better.

Injuries come with fast bowling. I think at the moment both Bhuvi and Bumrah are greater replacements. In ODI's your pace attack should consist him, Bhuvi, and Bumrah. India's top order is good enough to have a extra bowler in Shami.

 

 

Yeah i see merit in that statement ,unfortunately you would find many even on this forum who might disagree with this which is stupid to say the least.

 

But i guess selectors at this time are more worried about the fragile middle order ,but admitedly DK for rahul isnt the solution , we can see that, not the selectors though.

who said Shami had way too many injuries in his career? No, that is incorrect. Shami had just one knee injury through which he played WC 2015 and then after that underwent surgery. He has not had any injury before or after that.

He was out of action for a long time ,not to forget he played the wc with that injury which aggravated it further making it a long rehabilitation process.

I hope you understand how difficult it could be to have an injury at your prime especially for a fast bowler.

I have watched a bit of Dinesh Karthik I never rated him as a batsmen. In my opinion India could do better. You guys are blessed to have such a talented batsmen like Virat Kohli in your side. Maybe push Rohit Sharma down the order and replace him with another young opener who will develop by the time Kohli and other's retire. 

Rohit was a failure in the middle order,i would rather have Kl given more chances at no. 4 .He is a quality bat and has hardly gotten 2 straight games at no. 4 and shunned out,which is quiet inexplicable.

Shami has played 13 tests after coming back from injury in mid-2016

 

He is averaging 24.51 in tests in this period, with a SR of 51.

yeah just like in the first spell of bumrah where he was beaten many times and  was lucky the ball flew outside edge wide of slip cordon, got 2 close inside edges, 1 lbw appeal and the ultimate no-ball. out.... high on luck...

scored most runs by bullying spinners...but was exposed against seamers just like other pakistani batsmen....lol

his consistency has been good too... earlier he bowled a lot of loose deliveries and even that has been tightened up

same as what happened to all of our pacers....he was overbowled. Hopefully as he's test only for the time being it should help get his form and rhythm back. My favourite was the one against a cook...broken and cartwheeling stump
