dude, Shreyas had a big shuffle huge back lift and played on the up,not to mention gap between bat and pad, may balls took inside edge and went to fine leg and square leg, it was tail ender stuff. Guys seriously . For odi /t20 you don’t need guys who can combat bowlers on tough tracks . You needs guys who explode in to action on flat tracks made for runs .

 

all icc tournaments are run festivals . And most other game too . Yes you got odd once a year track like last game but don’t pick team based on that 

 

I actually want to see a run of games on 300 par tracks and then we can judge iyer . Maybe he is man to take us to 350 on these tracks 

 

we got excellent odi batting . What we need in middle order is not a guy who negate lethal swing on green mamba . But a guy who can go big last 15 overs . This is why dhoni is useless now as can’t up it and takes 30 balls to get going

So you would pick a team to combat dharamasla type track when 99% of odi tracks have par at 300 ?

 

world cup will be like ct . Run festival and nothing like a test match in England . Look at last ct in England were 3 of 4 semi finalists were Asian which shows type of tracks they faced and what World Cup will be

no, but at least folks who can adopt and tighten their technique when they face such a surface/weather, Dharamshala has been a testing pitch always, its not a Nagpur so folks should have expected it.

So you have a guy who smokes runs consistently on the norm odi tracks . You don’t want him in team cos can’t deliver on a once a year track which will have no bearing in big tournaments play ?

 

there are plenty guys who great in odi games who would have sucked in dharmasal . Last game has no relevance long term . Modern game is such were actually 300’is not par . It’s more 325 . 

 

Jason Roy . Hales . Gupti . Gayle . List goes on would have sucked here . But guess what 99% pitches suit there game so ...

I am not even defending shreyas and pandey, all i am trying to say is even Rahane and Kohli woluld not have produced any different result on this pitch and for that matter any recent cricket from any team. This pitch was unique of its nature. BTW same pandey with same pathetic technique has won you an odi (which was single odi victory in that tour) while chasing against aus. And from start i dont find anything so good abt shreyas especially the way he stands while facing balls.

you are saying shreyas will smoke runs in ODI..i doubt it with what i have seen so far.

I doubt if Shreyas can stand to the demand of constant acceleration without getting out cheaply in run fest type games either. He will get quickfire 20s or 30s at the most.

In the A-team SA tour 50-over tournament final, Iyer scored 140+ to win us the tournament in a thrilling run chase. Accelerated really well in the later part of the innings 

 

Don't form an opinion based on a couple of debut innings in ODI and T20I, where nerves may play a part too.

No 22 year old can do that consistently. He should be able to do that once he reaches 27-28.

We have no idea at this stage . Had done it all games not playing for india . So let’s see if can do it for india . Point is we don’t know either way based on last game

Boult said that he was impressed with the way Prithvi Shaw tackled swing. He is a high SR batter too ... maybe one for the future.

shaw, gill and anmolpreet - i think at least one of them will prove to be test-class.
