England's 0-8

@kira Eng haven't had a humiliating defeat at home like we had in 2012 against them. If they lose to us this summer I am ready to admit that they have been as bad as we were in 2011-12. Remember they beat SA away, much more impressive than us beating this weakass Lankans away. For 22 years when Lanka was a strong team, not once were we able to win a series there, 2015 win in Lanka was pretty impressive (2017 win was nothing special !!!) but not as impressive as Eng beating SA in their backyard. England have taken a pounding of late but I expect some ruthlessness from their board/selectors. When we were in the rut, Jimmy wanted Cool to get lost, but in stead Srini got rid of the chief selector himself, that's how corrupt and effed up the Dhoni regime was. From 7-9 in 2002-2010 to 1-15 in 2011-2017, that is how much we have regressed, Dhoni has single handedly screwed our reputation built with so much effort by the fab 4. In the 2011-18 period England has won much more than 1, even Lanka and Pakistan have bettered us since Jan 1, 2011. I don't care what others think about us, shouldn't we have higher standards? A billion plus population, huge talent pool, richest board, our no 1 sport.......yet we have failed to justify our reputation in recent times. Hopefully now that Dhoni's stench has gone away, this young team makes amends.

I think they lost to South Africa 2-0 in a 3 match series in 2012 if I am not wrong.

Lanka series was in 2014, I think OP is talking about their present 0-8 run and I don't think you can fit that loss into the current timeline. Drawing 2-2 against Pak was bad but at least they didn't lose unlike us. Even we had many such drawn series' against NZ, Pak, Eng and SA in the 2000s but doesn't hurt like the losses.

their hammerings have been worse than ours, losing test matches by innings after scoring 450 is something beyond disgraceful

Again, what exactly would have warne done? Macgill was a massive upgrade on warne against India in australia. And why do you continue to ignore gillespie from the bracken-williams-mcgill combo?  It's as if you are deliberately trying to downplay the aussie bowling attack. Lee played 2 tests in that series and averaged 60. Australia was only missing 1 player and that was McGrath.

Why you are hell bent on dragging Border-Gavaskar series of 2004 in your every comment? Yes we battled very hard, great performance by our team as well. We came viciously close in Aus and SA in coming years as well, but the scoreline still read 1-1.
I've not disrespected/belittled them or downplayed our team's efforts. Aus team was an ATG team, nobody doubts that.

England winning in south africa or nz is similar to India winning in Pakistan or sri lanka, don't know why you would hype england winning in south africa

If it would have been that easy, every team accustomed with pace & bounce could have won test series there. WI team of the late 90s which was still a quality side failed to win there & even NZ till date. As you know England & SA are two different places with different wickets, just because England won there a few times & didnt face trouble adjusting there as compared to the subcontinent doesnt mean that it should be compared with India's win in SL and Pak.
England has been pathetic & piss poor at home losing tests to SL,Pak, India, even WI. Now that is truly shameful.

And I value cherish home test victories a lot too. Never have I seen an Indian team this dominating at home, which is so refreshing to see where they go for the kill. Never have I taken any win at home for granted & never will, be it even in a dead rubber.

And? Have we lost the match? Have we lost the series? I don't see the point of you rant since as far as I can see, we are still very much in the game. It is not kohli's or the team's fault that there is no match practice. It is the job of BCCI to schedule the series. I personally think having net sessions was better than playing a practice match against school kids. We've only batted in 1 innings in this series so far in very hostile bowling friendly conditions against the best pace bowling attack in the world, what exactly did you expect was going to happen? I will wait till the end of the series to judge this team, I think we did pretty well to score 209 (although it was mostly due to pandya but he was able to score freely because pujara batted out the tough morning session so he deserves some credit too).

No, we havent lost the match or the series, thanks to Pandya & Bhuvi.
And no sir, if you're watching the same match the Proteas are in the driver's seat, not the Indians . We need all our bowlers to perform as a unit & restrict them to a max 250 something score. Then only we stand a chance.
BCCI are bloody b******s, corrupt men to the core who care only for money. But even in the media there was a talk of test specialists to be sent little earlier than before like Dravid, VVS , Sachin did a few times.
And I really wonder how the likes of Kohli & Dhoni who are capable of recommending a salary cap for uncapped players have their calls unanswered for their own demand of proper scheduling & enough practice matches during tough overseas tours.

Seems like England is about to have its very own 0-8 embarrassment. England lost 4-0 to India last year and are about to lose 4-0 to Australia, that's 8 losses in the last 10 overseas matches, 9 losses in last 11 overseas matches if you count the bangla series (which is even more embarrasing)

The Indian team got a lot of criticism (and rightly so) after the infamous 0-8 trashing in England and Australia but it seems England's trashing is going under the radar ( or maybe since I don't follow English media so I don't know) with no one talking about it.

The English side as been a mediocre team for most part of my cricket watching experience. They were downright atrocious in throughout the 90s till mid 2000s, they managed to put together a decent side from 2005-2012 but have been mediocre since 2012 again (which is why 2014 loss was more hurting than the 2011 loss imo).

I guess we should cut the Indian team some slack, why should Indian team be always on notice to prove itself in foreign conditions (not saying that they shouldn't perform overseas, I want the team to do well overseas) while mediocre trash like engurlund get away with abysmal performance year after year since the 90s. The Indian fans should grow a bit of spine and stop looking for approval of other nations.

they deserve it ..

hate jimmy & co and aussies put them in their place..

interestingly their bowlers are trundling more thna us :rotfl:

mission 8-0 accomplished by england,congrats @YCCC

Why am I being singled out? What about that stumped guy? He seems like more of an England/ECB cheerleader, which I am not.

For the record we're not a good team but not "minnows like Bangladesh" either. We're somewhere in between as the rankings will show you. As I've said before, I don't travel to watch England away and don't watch many tours on TV as they're usually on at unsociable hours, but I do watch them a lot at home. At the moment I'm satisfied with the value for money I'm getting from watching them on Sky and at the ground during the summer, but would evaluate my spending on them should they ever go all West Indies and lose regularly at home.

Last 10 years you say? We were robbed of a series victory in australia by steve bucknor, we drew in south africa in 2011, we were the best test team from 2009-2011. Quit whining about what we have done, we've done enough, way more than engurland in the last 4 decades. The Indian fans have been brainwashed to self hate and seek approval of others
