Nikhil_cric Posted February 13, 2018 Posted February 13, 2018 Just read a stat on cricinfo that is the 5th highest total we have registered in the first ten overs since 2015 World Cup and this has only confirmed my suspicion that it was never the lack of a genuine finisher that has been hurting our ODI cricket. The fact we have not been able to consistently score at a run a ball without losing wickets in the first ten has led to some sub par scores. Yes, these haven't been ideal batting conditions but i'm pretty sure we have played in India, Australia and SL a lot in this 3 year period and they have flat ODI batting decks. Genuine finishers have always been rare and right now we don't have any consistent ones, so why aren't we trying to maximise our supposedly top heavy batting lineup? What do ICFers think? Genuine issue or not?
Khota Posted February 13, 2018 Posted February 13, 2018 Sometime give credit to the opposition. Bowlers are fresh and fielders are fresh too. If you can get 45 runs without losing a wkt a team has done well. You can make it up on the back end.

A weak batting linup like Pak posted 340+ against us , its that easy to post and chase 300 totals these days

Jimmy Cliff Posted February 13, 2018 Posted February 13, 2018 Genuine issue. Most of it is down to Rohit playing like an upmarket Manoj Prabhakar.
kruiser Posted February 13, 2018 Posted February 13, 2018 Saala first 10 mein problem hai, finishers bhi nahin hain, fir hum khlete kub hain? #1 ranking aise hi aa gayee? kira and SecondSlip 2
Number Posted February 13, 2018 Posted February 13, 2018 (edited) Our batting is too top heavy atm. A team with solid middle order (3,4,5) can have dasher openers who can start hitting from word go but thats not the case with us. But our openers are more than capable of making up for it when set so I would not look much into this. Edited February 13, 2018 by Number

Was a time when we would outbat opposition and attack relentlessly. Nowadays they can't even attack shamsi. Such a defensive approach for this era.

I did say i'm not referring to this particular series but all matches since the last World Cup.

Umesh was dropped out. We just had 15 overs of proper bowling in that game. 300 still wins you almost all the games.
