Sg : Agree with manju, Pant should open. They should give him the confidence in his comfort position.

 

Rasgulla : Why should he be played as an opener ?? When you got Rohit & Dhawan as fixed openers for India and Rahul as backup. India needs #5 and #6 

 

SG : Then why is he selected? Should have selected someone who regularly plays at 5, 6 and makes good scores. If u pick a youngster give him the confidence to play in their natural position

 

Rasgulla : He played 18 matches in the middle order (4,5)  for DD in IPL..  what are you on about ?? He can play in the middle order.. Blaming everyone and everything for his poor performances. Why would you even make such experiments when you know Dhawan and Rohit will open for sure for next 3 to 4 yrs.

Ok lets be honest none of us are impressed with pant till now , buts its just been 3 games

 

Some want him desperately to do well so they can say "ohh look he is better then dhoni" n some doesnt to say "he cant replace dhoni now ". Both cases are to much of pressure to judge someone

 

Even the gr8 MS dhoni looked out of place in 1st few games and a certain KL rahul looked an absolute fool in his 1st test. So lets give him time and he has the talent to be patient with him. t20 are fast paced game that can take on ur nerves which i feel even happened with siraj. The judgement shudnt be on basis of either he is better then dhoni or not, the judgement shud be either he is good or not. Same comparison are blinding people towards pandya to, till the time we didnt wanted to check is he has as good as kapil most were fine and now......

 

Pant shud be given promotion in coming games so he gets more time to get his eye in n he feels less of pressure. Send him to open or bat at 3 and just see if he is good or not rather then comparing with dhoni coz thats not fair on the kid

to add to this list, SRT started off with 2 ducks in ODIs and had a very ordinary record (in statistical terms) until he began opening. pant merits a decent run in the T20s team since he, Krunal and Hooda are the only domestic bats I can think of (as of now) who can score at 150+ SR fairly regularly. our middle order lacks fast scorers in general.

but my my point is this . Seen him a lot in domestics . And his games for india mirrored this . Wild slogging across the line , no real offside game , almost eyes shot and trying to muscle ball . Very ungainly . Deeply worrying technique. So it’s not about what done in very few games for india , it’s his whole body of work 

 

can’t be more damming then this . Dk imo is much better bat then pant ! 

 

Pant is very young and big scope to sort out his technique. But right now ...

as long as Dhoni plays in ODIs, it's unlikely the others will get chances anyway.
