Indian fast bowlers in 2018 -- Those who were selected for the test series in England and those who barely missed out

I genuinely believe bowlers who attack stumps and bowl fuller will be handy In England, bhuvi bumrah would have been handy but they are injured, siraj and saini are two such bowlers

Attacking the top of off stump, with a significant percentage of deliveries, should be the target for all pacers on all surfaces. ( the other good deliveries being channel deliveries snd surprise bouncers )

Bumrah, Shami, Bhuvi, Siraj and Saini ... all do it when they are bowling well.

Indian fast bowling trio,  led by Jasprit  Bumrah,  has become a force to reckon with in 2018.

Together they have taken 136 wickets in this calender year,  the highest ever by a pace trio in the history of test cricket.

Aussie captain Paine just called them the best attack in the world now.

Feels great as an Indian fast bowling fan  !

But it must also be said that we need to develop another genuine all-condition strike bowler to partner Bumrah.     Shami and Ishant have been excellent support bowlers this year.  Deserve a lot of credit.  But they won't be able to lead the attack outside Asia if Bumrah is injured.  This aspect must be kept in mind.

No one in india can scale upto Bhumra's level as of now. If Bhumra is not playing , potency of pace attack will come down very much whoever comes into team in forseeable future.

I wish selectors & team mangagment should earmark Ankit, Avesh, Siraj , Mavi  as next replacements and BCCI to provide all

the support for further improvement like a specialist fast bowling coach and intesive training at NCA for them + all other promising pacers.

I think Chowdhary is like to like replacment for Ishant but with better wicket taking ability....
Siraj can be another strike bowler with the calibre of bumrah...

Yes.   But an enforcer cum wicket taker is needed in the side if Bumrah is not playing  ...  and that guy could be Avesh now and Mavi within a year.

Siraj and Rajpoot are not backups for Bumrah.

In fact,  Aniket C,  with a newly developed heavier good length ball and always good bouncer,    could be better this way.

Pak bowling stats are slightly better than India in 2018 despite playing on UAE dead pitches but nobody is talking about them since they are not box office like Indian team.

Stats of Indian bowlers often go through the roof when playing at home on flat pitches.   These days, most bowlers are good in known home conditions.  They know what lengths to bowl and are used to the ball being played with.

It is the away test matches that pose the biggest challenge and that is why Indian pacers are getting a lot of credit.

The stats you posted are of all bowlers, including the spinners. We are talking about pace bowlers here.

(2) , The stats dont take into account the last boxing day match played by India. I believe India has toppled over Pakistan even in the overall ranking.

(3) India has played mostly overseas and performing overseas is the real deal.

(4) Pakistan team played in its home country and yet has similar stats to India.

(5) Most performances in the stats you posted are of Yasir Shah. And the other is Abbas.

Do you happen to know the latest on Avesh? He has sort of disappeared after grabbing headlines in the IPL...

No, he hasn't disappeared.

Avesh Khan is one if the highest wicket takers this Ranji season with 34 wickets from only 6 matches.  Additionally, he took 4 wickets in the only innings against the WI test team in a practice  match.

Avesh is in red hot form now.  And bowling much better and wicket taking lines and lengths this year.
