Does Shastri play the scapegoat's role too?

Shastri deserves all the criticism that he receives but my question is how much power and influence does he have on the Indian team? To me, he appears like a "yes man" to Kohli .... If things go well, Kohli gets the credit. If things go bad, Shastri gets the blame .... It works for cricket fans and pundits too as they don't have to criticize Kohli, who is among the most followed and loved cricketers .... Kumble who tried to change things had to make way for Shastri 

 

So besides being the cheerleader, does Shastri play the scapegoat's role too?

I just want know, why is Kohli not criticized for his poor captaincy on field and poor leadership qualities off field? Who has gagged the entire Indian media?

Thala took that role for 9 years while some chicken was sacked as captain not once but twice back in 90s and early 00s

That is the biggest criticism of Shastri- he does nothing. As the English journalist observed, Shastri's presence is ornamental.

 

And for that he deserves the harshest criticism a coach can get.

At the end of the day, everybody and their father-mother knows it is Kohli who is the culprit.
People who are blaming Shastri know it too.
They are just requesting to get a coach who will not take BS from the players and an organization who is willing to back the coach over the player.

It is a players' game. The captain should have more power than the coach. Coach exists to support the team, not be in charge of it. Misunderstanding that was partly responsible for Chappell's failure as a coach. Having said that, Kohli then becomes the man to take it when we fail.

Shastri doesn't even take the initiative  to try promising youngsters to replace proven mediocres. That is his basic fault
