Taking your number, an avg IPL speed of 142 would translate to 138-140 in ODI. I cant see anyone blown away by that pace. Lets remember OP is arguing he should be in squad for pace, not how well he understands his bowling but only his pace.

So that will be every bowler. You are undermining average speed of 140. How many bowlers you think bowl at an average speed of 140? Average speed of 140 is not common. Very few bowlers bowl at that pace. His average speed will be higher if you exclude slower must be close to 145. He was consistently 145-150 yesterday in his first two overs.

So was Umesh years ago when he first broke into IPL.

My point you sometime take odd stances. Please go ahead and advocate for Saini to be picked for WC squad because he bowled at 150 in first 2 overs in an IPL game.

No, because he has a good FC average and bowled 145k even in 9th of his spell in Ranji trophy.

So in nutt shell you are ok to take trundler zaleel, chahar , Shakur or unadkat as 4th seamer.Rather than a potential  longterm option.

He is the third fastest in this IPL with average speed of 142, just behind Rabada and Ferguson whose average speed is 143. Even average speed of 140 is not very common. Most express Pacers have average speed between 140-145.

And in T20s,  average speeds of many bowlers come down drastically because they bowl many slower balls.

The percentage of slower balls is usually much lesser in ODIs and very low in test matches.

Saini can easily be the 3rd pacer in the playing 11 in England ... if Bumrah and Bhuvi / Shami are the first two pacers who will take care of death bowling.

Thing is ... we don't have a ready death bowler now apart from the 2 Bs.  Umesh, Chahar, Khaleel, Shardul etc. are not good death bowlers either as of today.  In this scenario, we should look for a pacer who can bowl a good line and length at good pace in the first 40 overs. And let the experienced guys take care of death bowling.

Saini can keep targeting the top of off stump at high pace and with seam movement and punctuate this with good sharp bouncers.  This will be ideal in the first 40 overs in ODIs in England.

He should be a very strong candidate for the 4th pacer's slot in the squad ... after Bumrah, Shami and Bhuvi.

It is a long tournament and we would need to rotate our quicks in the early stages and a choosing a good 4th specialist pacer is important.  Chahar, Umesh, Shardul, Khaleel etc. will be like cannon fodder on those flat tracks of England.

If Saini can cut down on those occasional half volleys, he can be a good pick as the 4th pacer.

My greatest fear ,Malti Chahar may get the nod ahead over all the candidates,

Dhoni may force his selection,a disaster in making

Won't mind if Malti Chahar actually plays :p:   it's her brother that is the problem
