Adi BB Posted July 2, 2019 Posted July 2, 2019 Pant has all the talent in the world, of we can persist with rohit for 5 years when he was constantly failing ,why not try out pant for a fee series .I am sure the TM and kohli will back pant once dhoni is gone and he'll be a permanent member of the squad beetle 1
Vijy Posted July 2, 2019 Posted July 2, 2019 one more good, if somewhat imperfect, knock from pant while thrown directly into the WC with little ODI experience. beetle 1
gakgupta Posted July 2, 2019 Posted July 2, 2019 Pant's ability is much higher as compared to Sanath..Did Sanath got a test hundred in Australia....Pant did it in the first tour itself ..Sent from my Nokia 6.1 using Tapatalk beetle 1

Pant may be 15 years younger than Dhoni but Dhoni would still beat him running between wickets.. he is like a younger version of Gayle who can't move fast.. He could be little useful in T20 but that's about it or may be little better on flat pitches but.. You'll get Swing and a miss, edges and one good hoick in leg on descent pitches.. And notice how he keeps coughing in multiple games.. that tells me he is not fit enough.. Unfortunately, he'll be our wicketkeeper in Tests.. God it will be awful.. Get Dinesh Karthik please.. he is getting chubbier, needs a lot of cardio asap.
JourneyMan Posted July 2, 2019 Posted July 2, 2019 On what planet is a domestic level hack comparable to a batting ATG? If Sanath played in today's mickey mouse era of flat tracks, part time bowlers and heavy bats he would hit a century in every second innings. manu4411 1
ShoonyaSifar Posted July 2, 2019 Posted July 2, 2019 Here is a prediction - once the 38 yr old finally calls it quits and Pant becomes a regular across formats, he will have more international 100s than this over the hill legend in 2-3 years time. A matter of first LOI 100 for him and he will tee off from there on like he did in Tests.

Pandya_Power Posted July 2, 2019 Posted July 2, 2019 I'm one oft he guys that voted No. Because I didn't really rate Jayasuriya, he was mostly a hack. Pant has a much higher ceiling. He will be extremely disappointed if he ends up with stats similar to Sanath by the end of his career. I know he can look ugle at times because of the range of his shots, but this guy is going to be the best keeper bat from SC and will prolly finish as an ATG.

Singh bling Posted July 2, 2019 Posted July 2, 2019 A comparison with Adam Gilchrist is more appropriate Pandya_Power 1

The guy was a game changer and to add look at the no of wickets he got. A certified LOI ATG.

Good observation. I somehow forgot about Sanga. You never really think of him as a WK/batsman. Tells you how good he was that he could make the team as a pure batsman. Pant will have done India proud if he becomes 75% of the batsman Sanga was. Vijy 1

But I felt that he lost that aura and fear factor a couple of years after th 96 WC. His peak never really lasted that long. He was of course the paradigm changer when it came to modern day LOI batting in the first 15 overs (powerplays). Him a Sachin changed the face of batting in that era. I was speaking purely from a technical perspective. Even at his peak, you got the feeling that Sanath was a freak, rather than technically gifted.
