As if any other day dhoni and jadhav would have smacked English like no tomorrow.....which planet you are on bro...
Reddysaab Posted July 1, 2019 Posted July 1, 2019 i cannot believe all u folks think england beat us. get this straight - we let england win. comprende? it is to dent Pak semi chances and to avoid playing a flukey unpredictable team like pak in semi and have a repeat of CT final. Well done Team India and well done Ravi Shastri for this brilliant plan!

Bichel twice in 2003 world cup. CoulterNile scored 86 in a crunch situation. Alex carey did not give up against us chasing 352 right till he got out. He didn't bat like wimp for 5 overs straight. That winning mentality should be running in your blood. This 'tactical loss' is for players with loser mentality. You go down fighting. This was not a must win game for India. India could have gone down fighting. All players from Ganguly era are gone, with Yuvi being the last of the batch. Ganguly era had fighters.

Would they play anything else but aggressive? If we want to be at the top, we need to keep proving it all the time, we need to be ruthless. And thereby lies the difference between a great team and just a good team. What feels bad is, the team is beatable not because of lack of talent, but because every time a wrong selection is being done just to benefit a handful. And everybody's turning a blind eye to it. When Australia lost to us in 2007 T20 WC semi final, their morale was hurt and they wanted to crush us hard in the following ODI series. We fought very hard and still lost the series 5-2. I don't think it's possible for any other team to replicate that kind of mindset, they had a very deep intimate relationship with the game and aimed for highest standards always. Which is also why I feel that our team played the toughest level of cricket during 07-08 Australia tour. Rightarmfast 1

DGBOSS Posted July 1, 2019 Posted July 1, 2019 5 hours ago, sandeep said: Yes, its not great losing to Englund. Yes, 338 was a gettable target against their bowling 'attack'. Yes, our batsmen did a poor job batting in the 1st 10 and last 10 overs. Yes, I'm sick and just tired of watching Dhoni tap the ball around when the need of the hour is to smack it. Yes, it looks strange and fishy when a team shuts down shop and doesn't even bother attempting to make a decent effort to chase, in the last few overs of the match. BUT, consider the following Losing this game has pretty much zero impact on our progress into Semi-final. Its not like our team 'gave up' on the game early on - we fought back well to pull Englund down to 337, from 155 in 21 overs. Even with the bat, the Kohli-Sharma partnership was steadily turning the odds in our favor until both of them got out against the run of play. The team was still methodically going about the chase, with Pant and Pandya at the crease. Once both of those guys got out - and effectively only bowlers left, the odds shifted majorly into England's favor. England bowled pretty smart in their defensive strategy - i.e. not too many freebies or gifts available. Cricket at the elite level, is a game of adapting, adjustments, and counter-adjustments. With the calm, methodical, ruthless approach, England was forced to put its best bowling plans on display - in a game that didn't really matter to India's tournament chances. Why should the Indian batting unit, even old man Dhoni and his limited 'batting', and Kedar, "show their hand" in attempting an unrealistic chase, when you have pretty much nothing to gain even if we win? Take a step back and think about the psychological implication of yesterday's game - India batted with exaggerated caution, took minimal risk, and still managed to get to a reasonably decent platform at around the 35th over - sure about 20 runs short of the perfect platform, but still decent. Even with "giving up", the team still scored 70+ in the last 10 overs, and got to within 30 runs of the target. England now know that even with an early wicket, and even with 28 runs in the 1st 10 overs, India are comfortably capable of getting to 320+ in 50 overs - more if they really needed to. Does it look good? No. Is it fair to paying spectators that after 90 overs, Indian team decided to treat the game as a glorified warm-up? No. Who gives a flying f***. Bottomline from yesterday's game is this - England needed to resort to drastic measures - 59m boundary etc, have a lot of things go their way - 155 in 21 overs, and still an Indian team got to within 30 runs of their total, without breaking a sweat, and giving up on the game in the last 6-7 overs. They know that the Indian team is capable of bettering this effort. Next time if England front up against this Indian team, there will that creeping thought in their mind - that they will definitely need each possible run that they can get on the board, to defend against this Indian team. Consider the alternative - if Dhoni & Jadhav had done what Pant and Pandya did, and gotten out in the 45th over - it would have definitely helped England take more confidence from yesterday's win, than they do today. Sure we lost the game, but there is no need to venture into tin-foil hat territory, or start throwing hate-filled feces at the team. I don't love the outcome, but its not the worst thing in the world. And from a certain perspective, it even makes a bit of sense. Question is can this bating lineup chase 350 ? Yes you can reach 315 or 320 with that batting but can you reach 350 ? Dont read too much into the fact that India scored 308 chasing. Once they made only 28 in first 10 it was always a catching up game.
